The European Union started in the aftermath of World War 2 to promote peace and cooperation in Europe. Germany and France were founding members and helped establish the EU in 1961. It has since expanded to include many European countries as members. The EU holds regular meetings of its members' leaders to discuss issues and policies affecting the 370 million citizens of Europe.

2. The European union! The European union has many countries belonging to it. Such as:- Austria Belgium Czech Republic France and Spain. Germany and France set up the E.U after world war two. The U.K and other countries joined the European after and there are still more joining this year.

4. Words of wisdom! In 1946 Winston Churchill Declared “ we must build a kind of United States in Europe.” Then when the war ended Germany and France set up the E.U as a “ Joint country Group so we can be sisters and brothers as one”

5. Info! The E.U started in November 1961 when a provisional agreement was reached. ( after world war two ) People elsewhere talk of the E.U as a “ Powerful group of people of the world”

6. Where do the E.U Meet? There is a head quarters at Geneva where they meet at regular times in the year it is usually presidents and prime ministers / mistresses that attend the meetings. Over 370 million people live in Europe which gives the E.U busy meetings.

8. Nationality! In France they have their own traditional costume aswell as their own language which is largely spoken across the world. The president of the republic has one of the most important political role.
