EAREG aims to develop a novel therapy for auricle reconstruction using bacterial cellulose scaffolds and human stem and chondrocyte cells. The project combines engineering, materials science, cell biology, and clinical expertise. The goal is to evaluate a pre-clinical therapy for ear reconstruction and propose a strategy to introduce it to the clinic. Successful development of this therapy could also apply to reconstruction of other structures like the nose, trachea, spine and joints.
