Launching a startup isn't easy. At each stage of scaling - from founding to product-market fit, from product-market fit to hyper growth, and from hyper growth to maturity - entrepreneurs face unique challenges. Greylock Partners hosted an event, called Greyscale, focused on these challenges at each stage. In the opening keynote, Jerry Chen of Greylock Partners discusses the state of enterprise software after the first quarter of 2016. He summarizes the private and public markets, M&A activity, and explains how this climate affects the startup environment.
Most people want to jump into & know how to do ICO or participate in it. They trade buzzwords, follow the herd on blockchain & crypto token without knowing where do they really apply. The objective of this is to introduce important concepts that need to be understood before getting into ICO and crypto valuation. All these concepts are introduced gradually through a metaphor then simple mental models followed by a first principle thinking level. This is the talk I gave January 12, 2017 at the G20/OECD Conference on the Digital Future in Berlin. I talk about fitness landscapes as applied to technology and business, the role of unchecked financialization in the state of our politics and economy, and why technology really wants to create jobs, not destroy them. (There is a separate PDF version, but some readers said the notes were too fuzzy to read.)
I happen to love podcasts and it seems like the I’m not alone, 20% of Americans are now listening to podcasts at least once a month, that’s a lot of hours directly attached to your target audience’s brain. According to the Washington Post, there were over 1 billion podcast downloads this past year and monthly podcast listeners have reached 75 million per month. Podcasts allow individual and traditional broadcasters alike to reach younger, and more varied audiences. “People under the age of 30 don’t own radios,” noted WNYC’s CEO and president Laura Walker.
What’s great about podcasts is there are no rules, you can target a niche as specific as you like, the listening habits are so varied and what you determine as ROI is all up to you. If done correctly it’s a forum to consistently share your expertise, build your credibility in a very intimate medium. When you have a direct relationship with your listener you can do really interesting things to build your brand. There’s nothing more intimate than being allowed to whisper in someones ear on a regular basis

Imposter Syndrome is a condition in which one feels like they aren't qualified to do what they've been tasked to do or have gotten to where they are through sheer luck. Not only have I personally experienced this and continue to almost 20 years into my career, but almost every developer I've ever met has dealt with it.
When developing/designing/managing/cooking, do you ever feel like:
- You are faking your skills
- You are only where you are due to circumstances and/or luck
- Anyone could do what you're doing
- You don't understand why you're being trusted with the task
- At any moment, someone is going to discover how bad you are at your job
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may be suffering from Imposter Syndrome. Congratulations. Acceptance is the first step to recovery.
In my presentation, I'll talk about common ways that Imposter Syndrome expresses itself and some concrete tips & tricks on how to deal with it, both for yourself and coworkers or employees.

The qualities of a successful streamer author powerspikeAmelia Heidenreich
“What does it take to succeed on Twitch?”
With the rapid growth of Twitch, many streamers and individual viewers alike are pondering this question more and more, simply because everyone wants a piece of the pie.
Some claim to have the keys to success on Twitch, while other’s call it plain luck.
However, what we do know is that there are certain qualities that every successful streamer has that we can all learn from.
Some of you probably already subscribe to these practices, but some of you might not be aware of certain things that are essential to success on Twitch, and on other content creation platforms.
So in this post, we’re going to detail some of what we think it takes to be a successful streamer on Twitch. Keep in mind: some of these things won’t apply to everyone.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
