2. Exposition of character
The protagonist character is presented in the first few
seconds of the opening sequence of taken 2. here, the
audience have already identified that this character will be
in the majority of the movie as he is shown from the
beginning highlighting his importance in the film. The close
up shots identify what the character is feeling due to his
facial expressions and the equipment he Is holding connotes
what type of genre the film is.
The other characters that are shown don’t seem to have
much significance to the film as they are show with a dark
light connoting that they may be the bad guys in the film
and show that they are not that important. The close up
shot also shows the of facial expression they are showing
which also helps identify how they character is feeling as
well as having the equipment in to the shot to identify the
type of genre it is.

place/time important in this film opening
The settings that have been shown are there to
establish where the film was taken and to give
enigma codes of what type of things may consist in
the film. For example we see here that there is a
religious temple which may signify the setting to be
in a religious country which then narrows the
audiences ideas of what the film will consist of.
The setting also connotes on what time period the
film was set in and here clearly we see that it is
modern due to the streets and technology such as
cars. The setting also expressed the atmosphere of
the opening sequence and here we can see that it is
a moving, quick and jumpy atmosphere due to the
car crashing and the quick shot types.

4. Narrative
The narrative is shown through the equipments and the
characters actions during the opening sequence. We can
identify that the narrative may include crime due to the
scenes of the two people talking with a gun and the car
that has crashed. The airplane shows that it may be
abroad which explains that the narrative will be in a
country different from the usual like England and
America. The shots of the locked up boxes show that
their may be some illegal crimes and weapons involved.
This all is similar to every thriller film as they consist of
narratives with crimes (most of the time) and include
fast pace editing and tension through the music and
editing/effects.
