Tachyons are hypothetical particles that travel faster than light. They were first proposed in 1962 and would have imaginary mass and speed up as their energy decreases. Cosmic ray showers may produce tachyons when high-energy particles collide with molecules in the atmosphere. Theoretical experiments suggest tachyons could escape black holes since they travel faster than light. When tachyons hit an object, they produce shockwaves and the observer would see two images - one of the approaching object and one of the departing object. While tachyons remain hypothetical, proposals continue to explore their potential properties and role in solving mysteries of the universe.

6. Why Tachyons?
A new concept
The particle that travels faster than
light with imaginary mass and speed
increases with decreases in energy and vice-
versa.

7. In a Lorentz invariant theory, the same formulas that apply to
“Bradyons” (ordinary slower-than-light particles) must also
apply to tachyons. In particular the energy–momentum relation,

Proposals
The possibility of particles
moving faster than light was
first proposed by O. M. P.
Bilaniuk, V. K. Deshpande,
and E. C. G. Sudarshan in
1962, although the term they
used for it was "meta-
particle".

9. In the 1967 paper that coined the term TACHYON,
Gerald Feinberg proposed that tachyonic particles could be
quanta of a quantum field with imaginary mass.

11. Cosmic rays hit the Earth's atmosphere with
high energy, some of them with speed almost
99.99% of the speed of light making several
collisions with the molecules in the atmosphere.
The particles made by this collision interact with
the air, creating even more particles in a
phenomenon known as a cosmic ray shower.
In 1973, using a large collection of particle
detectors, Philip Crough and Roger Clay identified
a putative Superluminal particle in an air shower,
although this result has never been reproduced.
12. •Since tachyons travels
faster than light, it has
the capacity to escape
from the black hole.
•This is the first
particle that has the
ability to escape from
the black hole.
13. When tachyons are made to hit an object the produce shockwaves
which are represented by black lines.
After hitting the object it produces two different images of
appearing and departing .
The right hand bluish shape is the image formed by the blue-doppler
shifted light arriving at the observer—who is located at the apex of the black
Cherenkov lines—from the sphere as it approaches.
The left-hand reddish image is formed from red-shifted light that
leaves the sphere after it passes the observer.
Because the object arrives before the light, the observer sees nothing
until the sphere starts to pass the observer, after which the image-as-seen-by-
the-observer splits into two—one of the arriving sphere (to the right) and one
of the departing sphere (to the left)
15. There are many proposals based on tachyons which is present
alive in the theories.
There are many mysteries in this universe to be solved and with
the help of technologies the mysteries has been solved soon the
tachyons will be revealed and hypothesis will be proved to make
earth a better place to live.
