Today's advanced technology is often seen in kindergartens. Teachers use technology
products as teaching materials. Technology has brought convenience to teachers,
bringing interest in learning for young children. There are also many cartoon videos
for toddlers watching online, not looking at the words on the book as before.
However, there are advantages and disadvantages to everything. In the following, I
will introduce the role of ICT in early childhood education, how it can promote early
childhood development, support early childhood learning and what potential crisis it
can have for young children.
The original text of the reference is as follows:
“According to the Curriculum Planning (Science and Technology) in the 2006
Preschool Education Guidance Note, science and technology are mentioned as
"necessities" for today's young children. They are closely related to daily life
and must be properly directed to give attention to young children.” (Hong Kong
Institute of Education,2014)
As mentioned in the original article, today's technology is integrated into our lives.
Most adults have at least one smart phone in their hands and we no longer need a
camera because the smart phone has a camera function. We also do not need to be
afraid that there is no contact with other relatives in other regions or countries
because smart phones have the function of instant messaging and they can use their
smartphones to communicate with relatives in distant places. As a result, today's
technology is integrated into our lives and can no longer be separated. Because
technology is integrated into our lives, young children have many more opportunities
to access technology. Here, I will introduce the role of ICT in early childhood
education.
In the role of early childhood education, ICT has become a part of life due to the
popularization of science and technology and communication. Early childhood
education also emphasizes that life is a good learning for young children.
Consciousness of young children can be consolidated through life And ability. Now
we can also see that children download colored applications using their parents'
smartphones. Therefore, the role of ICT in early childhood education is to let young
children have initial contact, operation and observation of science and technology.
For technology integration into teaching, Reference material:
“The Association for the Education of Young Children [NAEYC] pointed out that when
technology and media are integrated into the environment, curriculum and
daily routine, they can enhance the quality of childcare practices. The focus of

a child or educator is activity or exploration, not technology or media use.”
(Early childhood education research journals,2013)
Use science and technology to promote the development of children's exploratory
skills.
As mentioned in the earlier example, young children use colored phones to
download applications using smart phones. From a good perspective, the coloring is
no longer used for paper and pigment, which can be environmentally friendly, does
not waste paper, and allows young children to learn Operate the application, such as
what color to fill in the toolbar. But in another role, early childhood education
specialist Dewey advocated "learning from doing". Children can train in space, train
patience and concentration, and manipulate color pens and muscle sizes if they can
color the paper. After the completion of the work can also be given to others to
appreciate and enhance children's self-confidence. However, if only the coloring of a
smartphone or the creation of art can not fully take into account the aesthetic
development of young children.
For the potential risks of ICT, many young children are now called e-babies. Parents
sometimes use electronic products for young children in order to stop noisy children.
Although they can keep their children quiet, the long-term impact on their children's
eyesight can also affect their parent-child relationship.
Based on the above analysis, exactly how to use ICT in early childhood education
activities? Reference:
“The Developmentally Appropriate Technology in Early Childhood [DATEC] guidelines
for ICTs should include: ICT tools or software should be educational and should
encourage young children Cooperation should support curriculum

reorganization, with the characteristics of the game should allow young
children master control, so that users feel easy to understand, should avoid
violence and stereotypes. The integration of ICTs should support the
development of young children to consider their health and safety, and should
support the participation of parents.”(Early childhood education research
journals,2013)
As an example, I will give an example: this week's theme is Mother's Day. The teacher
will let the children use the software of "Little Painter" to design a Mother's Day card
in groups for their mum. Encourage children to cooperate to complete. Mother's Day
card is designed to let children lead, the teacher will give a brief introduction of "little
painter" operation before giving young children to use, so that children follow the
teacher step by step grasp, let the children group design. Parents involved, the
teacher let the children go home and parents online to find parents like the pattern,
and then e-mail sent to the teacher's mailbox.
In this activity, teachers should be encouraged to work with young children. The
software is instructive, supports curriculum reorganization, controls young children,
simplifies user operation and avoids violence and stereotypes.
Compared with the traditional teaching methods, using science and technology to
teach children can enhance their interest in learning, because they think the novelty
will feel interesting. They can enhance their exploration skills through contact with
technology. For example, they can know that they can watch cartoons on their own
networks, listen to their favorite music, and create pictures for themselves. As far as I
know, some kindergartens will put their homework on the school network so that
young children can download and review their own homework or do their homework
at home. They also make short films for animation and schools to attract young
children to learn.
