Project Outline The National Library Board’s (NLB) “Business Collection” covers reference materials on management, finance, investment, marketing, trade, small businesses and entrepreneurship.  A monthly newsletter is sent out to provide key highlights of the collection. The aim of the newsletter, entitled “BizCrumb$” (see the NLB Business Collection website) aims to reach out to a target audience of Entrepreneurs, businessmen, start-ups and SMEs. The Business Collection department will like to revamp the appearance and layout of the newsletter. They are also interested to know what the target audience thinks of the newsletter and would like to explore new ways to promote its “new arrivals” titles in its newsletter. Overall objective is to increase the appeal and “visibility” of this newsletter for its target audience.
Project Objectives Revamp the appearance and layout of “BizCrumb$” newsletter Target audience: Entrepreneurs, Businessmen, start-ups and SMEs Age range 21 and above (Preferably businessmen/ Entrepreneurs) Find out what the target audience thinks about the newsletter Improvise newsletter to suit target audiences needs and preferences Promote/ market the “new arrivals” titles in newsletter Increase appeal and “visibility” (popularity) of newsletter

BizCrumb$ Platform Preferences The above chart shows that most prefer hard copy version of the newsletter.

Challenges Faced:Environmental Analysis Availability of business related newsletters Lack of resources and budget for BizCrumb$ by NLB Technologies for the newsletter (moving images, flash) Publishing: 3 months; hard to keep up with latest business events and news
Challenges Faced:Survey Limited number of people at NLB business section Not being able to get proper answers (most rejected us or were in a hurry) Almost all did not know about BizCrumb$ (difficult to survey)

SME Leader Interview:Miss Elim Chew Are you aware of any business related newsletters from NLB/ others libraries?  No. What kind of content would you like? (for example: business info/ financial updates/ contacts for government support/ business events)  Business Information. Would you like it to be in hard or soft copy pertaining to the platform?  Both. Do you mind paying for the service? Up to how much?  Yes, if it is relevant. However I have never paid for such service so far. All information has been sent to me free. How often would you like the newsletter to be published?  Every month. What do you find appealing in the newsletter (layout or content?)  Both are important.

If yes, how would you like the newsletter to help you? What would like you gain from the newsletter?  I am more interested to know how the newsletter can help the growth of the business and industry. You can tap on your existing database as well as we can provide a platform of 100,000 database, 77th Street Get A Life membership EDM and 77th Street Web portals to promote your newsletter.

  • 3. Project Outline The National Library Board’s (NLB) “Business Collection” covers reference materials on management, finance, investment, marketing, trade, small businesses and entrepreneurship. A monthly newsletter is sent out to provide key highlights of the collection. The aim of the newsletter, entitled “BizCrumb$” (see the NLB Business Collection website) aims to reach out to a target audience of Entrepreneurs, businessmen, start-ups and SMEs. The Business Collection department will like to revamp the appearance and layout of the newsletter. They are also interested to know what the target audience thinks of the newsletter and would like to explore new ways to promote its “new arrivals” titles in its newsletter. Overall objective is to increase the appeal and “visibility” of this newsletter for its target audience.

Project Objectives Revamp the appearance and layout of “BizCrumb$” newsletter Target audience: Entrepreneurs, Businessmen, start-ups and SMEs Age range 21 and above (Preferably businessmen/ Entrepreneurs) Find out what the target audience thinks about the newsletter Improvise newsletter to suit target audiences needs and preferences Promote/ market the “new arrivals” titles in newsletter Increase appeal and “visibility” (popularity) of newsletter

  • 8. Awareness Of BizCrumb$ The above chart shows that most of the people are unaware of BizCrumb$.
  • 9. BizCrumb$ Platform Preferences The above chart shows that most prefer hard copy version of the newsletter.

Do you mind paying for the service? Up to how much? Yes, if it is relevant. However I have never paid for such service so far. All information has been sent to me free. How often would you like the newsletter to be published? Every month. What do you find appealing in the newsletter (layout or content?) Both are important.

You can tap on your existing database as well as we can provide a platform of 100,000 database, 77th Street Get A Life membership EDM and 77th Street Web portals to promote your newsletter.
