The evolution of society in recent years has been breathtaking, especially because of the research, development and innovation and the rapidly adaptation of the citizen to this big change. These changes in lifestyle, work, personal development, education, how we communicate, etc ... were unimaginable to our grandparents just 20 years ago.
This New Scenario directly affects the way that governments must tackle new challenges and paradigms of contemporary society. The impact of social networks and mobile devices, is the most comprehensive and global driver. And in the same way, the new advanced threats, has a very strong impact to social welfare and peaceful coexistence between people and countries.

MISP: A Multiple-Impact Social Partnership Model to promote Educators’ Develo...M I Santally
The organization Helping Our People has been setup in 2011 by a team of education professionals working at the Virtual Centre for Innovative Technologies (VCILT) at the University of Mauritius. In 2009, the VCILT embarked on the SIDECAP project, funded by the EU-ACP in a consortium regrouping the Open University of the UK, the University of the West Indies, the University of the South Pacific and the University of the Highlands and Islands. The work of the VCILT in the context of the SIDECAP project was essentially focused on the repurposing of Open Educational Resources to fit in the local Mauritian Context. At the same time, the VCILT received an internal grant to work on the development of interactive learning materials using the integration of text-to-speech technology in instructionally designed PowerPoint presentations. In this paper we report how the research activities of the two projects led to a series of development and applications in the real-world context for the continuous professional development of educators, the establishment of a social entity, an NGO called Helping Our People, a partnership with Microsoft Indian Ocean and French Pacific under the Partners in Learning Program and the Youth Empowerment Program to alleviate the suffering of those living in vulnerable conditions in the country.

An opinionated individual with an interest in cryptography and its intersection with secure software development.
This presentation, created by Syed Faiz ul Hassan, explores the profound influence of media on public perception and behavior. It delves into the evolution of media from oral traditions to modern digital and social media platforms. Key topics include the role of media in information propagation, socialization, crisis awareness, globalization, and education. The presentation also examines media influence through agenda setting, propaganda, and manipulative techniques used by advertisers and marketers. Furthermore, it highlights the impact of surveillance enabled by media technologies on personal behavior and preferences. Through this comprehensive overview, the presentation aims to shed light on how media shapes collective consciousness and public opinion.
This presentation by Morris Kleiner (University of Minnesota), was made during the discussion “Competition and Regulation in Professions and Occupations” held at the Working Party No. 2 on Competition and Regulation on 10 June 2024. • Taquaril
URBEL has invited the academy (represented by UNA,
UEMG and UFMG) to support some families to develop
their urban gardens, in a preservation area.
Dense bushes nearby the residences represented a danger
to the families for hiding illicit activities as well as
synanthropic animals that are a threat to human health.
Since a retired resident had expertise with agriculture, he
should be the reference and inspiration for the
neighbours.
He is succeeding in having very productive space, but the
neighbours are not quite engaged yet.
We have promoted a composting workshop with the
families and will be making activities to involve and foster
collaboration within the community.

• “Aglomerado da Serra”
A rather independent group having already a practice of
involving the community in the selective collect and
organic compost making with and without worms.
Some leaders of the community give workshops on this
practice and sell boxes for vermiculture.
We have participated as students in their workshop and
afterwards have invited them to take part in a short
extension course on vegetable and flower urban gardens
that was promoted in the ED‐UEMG.
Agroecological practices have been the main focus of the
group, as a way of life, along with healthy eating and
income generation.

FoundationsFoundations
Our theoretical foundations:
• Social and Solidarity Economy
Economic activities based on solidarity for the integrated
development of the community and the individual
It privileges the voluntary associations aiming at
addressing specific local problems, with the objective of
contributing to the improvement of collective quality of
life and the environment, which neglect the rigors of cost/
benefit analysis, typical of private management (FRANÇA,
2001)
• Social inclusion, valorisation of diversity, exchange of
academic and empirical knowledge are also
cornerstones of our work.
