SYLLABUS IN PRINCIPLES AND STRATEGIES IN TEACHING MATHEMATICS
A.Y. 2022-2023
1st
Semester
I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
Establish clear goals that articulate the mathematics that mathematics students are learning as a result of instruction in a lesson and
ensure that students understand how the current work contribute to their learning. It also guides the students in lesson planning and
encourages using varied approaches and strategies to make sense and solve tasks during instruction.
II. COURSE OBJECTIVES: At the end of the semester, the students must have;
A. discuss the mathematical purpose and goal of a lesson during instruction.
B. elicit and gather evidence of student understanding at strategic points during instruction.
C. develop their questioning skills that scaffold students’ thinking without stepping in to do the work for them.
D.use visual models to support students’ understanding of general methods.
