1. SWITCHED BEAM SYSTEM
Also called as ‘Switched Lobe’
• Simplest technique
• Finite number of fixed, predefined patterns

2. • Predefined radiation patterns to focus on an individual subscriber.
• Detects signal strength and switches between pre determined
patterns for best communication.
• As subscriber moves, radiation pattern is moved and the best is
selected.

3. • In switched beam system, macro cells are divided into few
microcells.
•Every microcells is equipped with different types of preset
radiation patterns.
•When a subscriber enters a macro cell, the microcells with the
strongest signals are determined and the corresponding beam
is used for the maximum power output.
