Susanna Dickinson was a 20-year-old woman living at the Alamo in 1836 who survived the battle despite being shot in the leg. She hid from Mexican soldiers in the chapel with her 15-month-old daughter and other women and children. Her first husband, Almeron Dickinson, died in the battle along with many other soldiers whose bodies were burned afterward rather than given a proper burial. Dickinson later remarried multiple times as she traveled frequently.
