Julia Morgan was the first licensed female architect in California. She graduated from the University of California in 1895 and went on to design over 700 buildings throughout her career, including Hearst Castle. Morgan faced challenges as the first female in her field and later health issues, but was able to complete monumental projects and have many of her buildings still standing today.
