• Periklanan. Suatu bentuk komunikasi yang, dari sudut
pandang penerima, dibangun dalam penghargaan yang
rendah. Tidak terlalu diinginkan dan disukai bahkan
cenderung dihindari.
• Positioning dimulai dengan sebuah produk. Sebuah barang
dagangan, jasa, perusahaan, insitusi bahkan orang.
• Positioning bukanlah sesuatu yang dilakukan terhadap
produk, tetapi sesuatu yang dilakukan terhadap pikiran calon
konsumen, yakni menempatkan produk itu pada pikiran calon
konsumen.
• Bagaimana anda membedakan diri anda sendiri dalam pikiran
calon konsumen anda
• Jika sebuah kata dapat mengungkapkan dan menandai
periklanan, maka kata itu adalah Positioning.
• Positioning telah merubah cara menjalankan permainan
periklanan di masa sekarang. Hari-hari periklanan kuno telah
berakhir demikian juga kata-katanya (ancient copywriting)
• “Pertama”, “Terbaik”, Terdepan”, “Terindah” are dead
Beberapa contoh luar biasa:
• “Avis is only no.2 in rent a cars. So why go with us?”
We try dammed hard (when you’re not the biggest, you have
to)
The line at our counter is shorter.
“Avis hanya menduduki posisi kedua dalam penyewaan mobil,
lantas mengapa memilih kami? Kali mencoba sangat keras.
Antrian di meja pembayaran kami lebih pendek”
• “7-Up: Uncola”
• Margarine = Soy Butter
• Pendekatan mendasar atas positioning bukanlah menciptakan
sesuatu yang baru dan berbeda. Akan tetapi, dengan
menggunakan apa yang telah ada di dalam pikiran. Mengikat
kembali hubungan yang telah ada.
• Always remember: “Perception is reality”
Maka konsumen selalu benar!
• Maka kenapa sih harus ada pendekatan baru (seperti halnya
positioning) terhadap periklanan & pemasaran?
• Karena sekarang teh:
– Cluttered information / overcommunicated society
– Too small memory for too big capacity
• Dalam komunikasi, seperti halnya arsitektur, lebih sedikit lebih
baik. Anda harus mengasah pesan Anda untuk diasah dalam
pikiran
