Egypt established its first kingdom around 5000 BC. The New Kingdom was established in 1570 BC after the first kingdom ended in 2180 BC. Egypt reached the height of its power around 1400 BC under Ramesses II, who made a treaty of peace in 1285 BC and died in 1200 BC. After Ramesses' death, invasions occurred that led to the decline of the Egyptian Empire.
