2. Introduction
• Based in Springville and Provo, Utah, the Provo Canyon
School provides psychiatric treatment and individualized care
to male and female students of various ages. Beyond its
institutional services, Provo Canyon School provides support
to a number of local charities, including the Utah Food Bank.
For more than 110 years, the Utah Food Bank has provided a
variety of food-related services to the 444,000 individuals in
the state who currently risk missing a meal every day. Thanks
to public and private contributions, the Utah Food Bank
distributes more than 37.5 million pounds of food, or about 31
million meals, on an annual basis. Individuals who desire to
support the Utah Food Bank can donate time, money, or food.
3. Utah Food Bank
• Volunteers are critical to the food bank’s ongoing operations.
Last year, volunteers gave more than 98,000 combined hours.
Volunteer shifts at the food bank fill up quickly and can be
reserved by visiting www.utahfoodbank.org.
The food bank’s website is also a good place to make financial
donations. Donations can be made in any amount, and the
Utah Food Bank proudly advertises the fact that every dollar
contributed to the cause translates to $7.61 worth of food and
services.
Finally, food donations can take the form of food drives,
virtual food drives, and donations to local pantries within the
Utah Food Bank’s 82,170-square-mile territory.
