This document provides information about an intensive two-day course on supporting service children and their families from a multi-agency approach. The course will review current research and practices, explore the context and implications for service children, and look at ways to mitigate potential issues. It is open to all professionals working with service children, including teachers, health and welfare workers, and military organizations. The course will take place on September 24-25, 2013 at Missenden Abbey in Buckinghamshire and costs £400-500 depending on accommodation needs. Attendees will gain knowledge on supporting service children and an understanding of related issues around postings, deployment, bereavement and more.

This is a unique opportunity for those working with Service Children and their families to attend an intensive
two day course in Buckinghamshire. This course will review current research and practice to offer an
overview of the key context in which Service Children live. We will also focus on the potential implications,
both academic and holistic that may result from this context and look at ways of mitigating these. The course
will be suitable for all professionals who work with Service children and their families and is run in
conjunction with Buckinghamshire County Council Children’s Services, Service Children Support Network
(SCSN), Halton School, Child Bereavement UK and Solent NHS Trust.
