STI International is a non-profit organization that aims to address challenges of communication and collaboration at large scales through semantic technologies. It has 11 partner organizations, 15 members, and several fellows. STI holds biennial Semantic Summits to discuss strategic issues and directions for semantic technology. The 2013 summit agenda shows sessions on topics like the semantic web in Russia, data science curriculum, and future funding for semantics in Europe.

Mission
Our mission is to exploit semantic technologies to
address the various challenges associated with
communication and collaboration at large scales.
We acknowledge that these challenges include
technical, social, policy and economic strands and
thus our approach uses a hybrid combination of
research, technology creation, exploitation,
networking, dissemination, education and
standardisation. In short our aim is to maintain
semantics as an integral component of modern-
day Information Systems leveraging the expertise
and skillset of our Partners, Members and the
wider semantic community.

Summit Goal
Every two years STI International will hold a Semantic
Summit organized by the STI Fellows for the STI
Board and selected Junior STI members. STI
Semantic Summits will be intellectually, socially,
and geographically stimulating and will address a
small number of open scientific and domain or
industry challenges of strategic importance to STI and
to the Semantic Technology Community. They will be
forward looking and will attempt to better understand
the challenges and to set directions for STI
Members, STI, and the Semantic Technology
Community.
