Current Analysis
The St-Lawrence Alumni is an association who try to inform, invest and involve the current and past graduates to give back to their college. In addition, the Alumni Association is in place to keep graduates connected to each other. They are connected to the foundation of the college because, the foundation is also concerned in raising money for the college.
To inform the alumni, the college has numerous ways including the voyager news letter which is printed once a year, they have a job bank for the graduates and they plan reunions to help graduates stay connected. They are always looking for new ways to raise funds for the various projects including the uncommon campaign which is currently in place. Currently they receive funds from annual givers, Major gifts, corporate sponsorships, wills and bequests and much more, all from people in the communities in which the colleges are located. In addition, the alumni association gets involved in the colleges and the communities. They accomplish this by planning events, advisory board, volunteer opportunities, steward ship programs, and more.
Each year, the Alumni Association, raises an average of 1.5 million in donation but every now and then there are long term campaigns. Currently there is a five-year campaign called the Uncommon Campaign which is aimed at raising 11 million within five years. Currently after only 14 months, they have raised nine million mostly from major sponsors and corporations. However, the issue of donating comes back to human nature in which they tend to donate to face to face interactions. This is hard when there is only seven members of the team.
In addition, there are 92,000 alumni that the college is aware of however only 60,000 are included in the database in which we know their name, phone number and address. The other 32,000 are “lost”. That becomes an issue, how to reach these lost alumni for donations. Other issues include, low return on equity for bursaries, how to attract alumni as they tend to stay within their small communities and how they will reach the goal for the Uncommon Campaign.
Therefore, the research below will mainly be focused on how to attract donors, retain alumni and inform alumni of their benefits.

JobScout Offers New Grads Job-Hunting Tips
JobScout is an online platform designed to teach job hunting skills to recent graduates and millennials. It offers nearly 40 lessons on topics like using social media and networking to find employment. While many millennials are skilled with social media, they often lack fundamental job searching skills. JobScout helps address high millennial unemployment rates by providing guidance on online job applications, resumes, cover letters, and more. It is available for free online and as an app, and has helped connect hundreds of library branches with job seekers.
Impact Report_Plaid_06142022
Plaid and LEAP partnered to host a SuitUp business competition for students. Volunteers from Plaid coached student teams from LEAP's afterschool program in creating a teen financial literacy app. The winning team designed an app called "TreeHouse". Both volunteers and students found the experience impactful. Students reported being influenced in their career choices and interested in fields like business, design, and finance. Volunteers enjoyed working with the students and most want to participate in future competitions. The event was a success in exposing students to new industries and skills.

- 1. The Department of Education has joined the White House’s efforts to engage organizations nationwide to create new and promote existing summer jobs for low-income youth. These summertime opportunities yield experiences for the youth of America to learn life and work skills, laying the groundwork for pathways to educational and professional success. As a Department of Education partner, we need your help in meeting President Obama’s goal of having 250,000 jobs in the Summer Jobs+ Bank by Friday, March 16, 2012, and growing that number through the end of May 2012. Youth employment is a critical element of success for young people; unfortunately, youth employment numbers, especially for those most at risk, are far too low. Here is how you can help change that cycle and create opportunities for low-income and disconnected youth: Commit to creating new pathways to employment in 1 of 3 categories for youth ages 16 - 24: Pathway 1: Life Skills - Provide youth work-related soft skills, such as communication and time management. This includes resume writing or interview workshops and mentorship programs. Pathway 2: Work Skills - Provide youth insight into the working-world to prepare them for employment. This includes job shadow days and unpaid internships. Pathway 3: Earn and Learn - Provide youth on-the-job skills in a learning environment while earning wages for their work. Action Items: 1) Can you offer new, never-been-offered career opportunities for youth 16-24 during the summer? If you can, go to: http://webapps.dol.gov/DOLEvents/Event/Register/17/Summer-Jobs- Commitment-Registration, enter your organization or company’s name, the number of new pathways/opportunities you can commit to, and the pathway type you are providing. Then email Kate Herbek (Kate.Herbek@ed.gov) to let us know that you have gone online and filled out the form, and the number of new pathways to employment you expect to create. 2) Can you post your existing summer employment opportunities for youth ages 16 – 24 at the Jobs Bank website? The Summer Jobs+ Bank will be a one-stop-shop for youth looking for summer job opportunities. If you are unable to create new pathways/opportunities, but have existing ones, enter them in the Job Bank: Go to: http://webapps.dol.gov/DOLEvents/Event/Register/17/Summer-Jobs-Commitment- Registration, and enter your organization or company’s name, the number of pathway opportunities you can provide, and they type of pathway it is.
