Remembering Christ When You Are Suffering for His Cause
1 Peter Chapter 3:17-18 “ It is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil ”.
Two mentioned sufferings: 1. Suffering for doing good. Suffering for doing good means you suffer for God’s cause, as a committed follower of Christ. You are urged to suffer for righteousness sake. You are urged to share and live his command even to the point of rejection and persecution. 2. Suffering for doing evil. We suffer because of our disobedience to God, we suffer because of our sins, we suffer because we are living in this fallen world. ”.
Making the Right Choices in Life? …… ...Does it glorify God? (1 Cor 10:31) .……..Does it help my witness for Christ? (1 Cor 9: 19:22) ……… Is it against a specific command in the Scripture and would cause me to sin? (1 Cor 10:12) .……..Am I motivated by a desire to help others to know Christ? (1 Cor 9:23; 1 Cor 10:33) ……… Am I thinking only of myself, or do I truly care about the other person? (1 Cor 10:24) ……… Am I acting lovingly or selfishly? (1 Cor 10:28-31) ……… Will it cause someone else to sin? (1 Cor 10:32) ……… Does it help me do my best? (1 Cor 9:25) ……… Is it the best and most beneficial course of action (1 Cor 10:23; 33)
Romans 5:3 “ Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character, and character hope.” James 1:4 “ Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Why does God Allow Us to Suffer for Doing Good
Hebrews 5:8-9 “ Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.”
Romans 8:17 “ Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory”.
