The document demonstrates what happens when files are renamed using the SVN client versus without it, showing that using the client properly renames the file while maintaining its version history, whereas renaming without the client causes it to lose its version history and be treated as a new file. It conducts an experiment renaming files both with and without the SVN client and shows the different results, concluding that the proper way to rename in SVN is to use the client in order to preserve the file's history.

• What happen when we don’t use the svn
client
• There are 2 files:
– Cordon Bleu.txt (will rename using svn client)
– Index.html (will rename not using svn client)
• Svn client used is tortoise svn.

33. conclusion
• Improper renaming method will cause the
version losing its track.
• Renaming is done by copying the file using
command line svn copy
• Which automatically makes the file to be marked
with addition while maintaining the history
• Same thing apply to delete, please delete using
tortoise svn>delete, if not the item will be
marked as missing.
