A direct routeto the professional training stage • Work placement and work experience opportunities are available through our four-year thick sandwich route, which may be credited by the Law Society against the two-year traineeship requirement. • Exemptions from the academic stage of the Professional Examinations for the Law Society and Bar Council. • Guaranteed place on the LPC courses @ the College of Law
- 20. What happens now? •A lot of hard work! Good luck with your exams and making your choice of university. • For most of you the following deadlines apply: • All decisions by 31/03/2012 if still awaiting • Proceed with your choice of university – firm choice / Reply to offer by 9 May 2012 • Mid July – Results for BTEC, • Early august – SQA results • Mid August Irish leaving Cert • 16 August GCE and Diploma results • Confirmation Sunday – we’ll start to decide on marginal cases that week- end. – Priority given to student achieving the conditions of their offer. – Near misses may be admitted by decision of the Head of School 20 UCAS point below original offer. For near misses lower, than 20 UCAS point, the Admissions tutor need to agree – Admissions team will effect decision if there are enough places. – Disappointed students cannot be admitted by calling us during clearing (providing the school goes to clearing).

- #6 Memorise the faces and see if you can spot some of them during the course of the day and this afternoon at coffee – You will be looking for the following people: By day, He teaches criminal law and is a dedicated head of undergraduate studies at Brunel and deputy Head of School. But he is also one of Europe’s leading authorities on comparative criminal law with a PhD from the Sorbonne in France – captain of the staff football that gets regularly beaten by the students (but they are still trying)!!!! NB: But in the winning staff team that won the basketball game against the students! DIMITRIOS GIANNOULOPOULOS By day module convenor for English Legal System and Methods, senior tutor but in her spare time she is also the leading UK authority on criminology and car crime and Member of the Metropolitan Police’s Strategic Traffic Consultative Forum. CLAIRE CORBETT She is teaching Land law and European Union law and is a convenor of the Dissertation module in Year 3, but in her spare time, she is a brilliant tango dancer, an active member of the Brunel Reading Group and a Research advisor to the Refugee Council. Yes I forgot to mention that she has made quite a name for herself internationally on refugee rights. NADINE EL-ENANY Admissions tutor by day, teaching ELIM and Consumer law during the week. When she is not teaching she enjoys joining the students for a law film event or act as a legal consultant for eBay. Sometimes she even shares a stage with key English policy makers from the Government Department for Trade and Industry or from the European Union on questions concerning Electronic commerce and the protection of consumers. And that expertise is passed directly onto the student she teaches in Year 3 on consumer law... All those people and many more will contribute to your legal education at Brunel.

- #8 All of them are going to involve a lot of reading, but thinks of it as if you’re reading a long text message and the 3 years should go flying by.
- #11 During the course of those two levels, you will gain the knowledge and transferable skills needed to rock situations like this and feel completely capable to handle cases as a lawyer or in other related activities.
