This document discusses how employees can be negatively influenced by unethical or abusive bosses. It provides examples of Michael Cohen, who committed crimes to cover up for Donald Trump's misdeeds, and how his judgment became compromised. Bad managers can model unacceptable behaviors and spread those behaviors to others through a process of social learning and normalizing unethical practices. Over time, employees may change their own values to align with their boss's behaviors in order to reduce cognitive dissonance. The document warns that unethical behaviors can become contagious among coworkers and influence social norms within an organization.
This document discusses privacy and workplace issues. It addresses the moral issues around organizational influence on employees' private lives and obtaining personal information. It also covers working conditions like health and safety, management styles, childcare policies, and redesigning work to improve job satisfaction. The key topics are the tension between employee privacy rights and employers' interests, and how work design impacts worker well-being.
George Elton Mayo was an Australian psychologist known as the father of human relations theory. He conducted research at Hawthorne Works in the 1920s-1930s that revealed how social and environmental factors impacted worker productivity. The Hawthorne studies showed that workers responded positively simply from being observed, known as the Hawthorne effect. Mayo's research emphasized that informal social groups within organizations are important for worker satisfaction and productivity. While influential, the human relations school was criticized for being too prescriptive and not empirically verifying all its claims. Overall, Mayo established that organizations are social systems and workers' social and emotional needs must be considered for optimal performance.

The internet is changing the way we work, socialize, create and share information, do shopping, organize the flow of people, ideas, and things around the globe. Every innovation has some good and some bad impact on the country’s economy that might affect or increase the revenue of small or big businesses. According to the general online shopping statistics, online shopping is growing so fast that the global online shopping market size is predicted to hit 4 trillion in 2020. In the USA alone, it is expected to have 300 million online shoppers by 2023 which are 91% of the country’s population. 69% of Americans shopped online whereas 25% of Americans shop online at least once per month. All these purchases are not being made in a store which means these have a significant impact on the local economy. Online purchases directly impact the local economy as it reduces the amount of sales tax the state was supposed to col.
This document outlines an agenda on the ethical impacts of employment terminations related to social media use. It discusses challenges employers and employees face regarding enforcing social media policies without infringing on employees' rights. Case examples are presented along with applications of ethical theories like utilitarianism and deontology. The document also discusses how human resources practices are changing to address these issues, including new social media policies, trainings, and analytics. Driving factors include a third of employers disciplining workers for inappropriate social media posts. It concludes with two logical arguments - that employees can be fired for defamation or policy violations via social media, and that increased social media related firings indicate a need for federal regulation.
Major contributors of school of management thoughtAshidaFathima1
The document summarizes major contributors to the development of management thought across different eras. The modern era saw further refinement of ideas with contributions from thinkers like Drucker, Porter known for the five forces framework, and Prahalad focusing on emerging markets.

The study will seek to answer three research questions through surveys and experiments/quasi-experiments. Statistical analyses like correlations, regressions, t-tests, and ANOVAs will be used to analyze the data and determine relationships between disclosure of information and privacy threat levels. It is hoped the study will provide empirical evidence to inform policies around protecting individual privacy rights in the context of increasing information sharing.
This chapter provides an overview of drug testing in the workplace. It defines drug testing as the analysis of biological specimens like urine to detect illegal drug use. Urine is the most common specimen tested due to its non-invasive collection and ability to detect drug metabolites. Testing involves an initial immunoassay screen and confirmation of positive results using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The six situations where a drug test may be required are discussed from least to most intrusive: pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty, follow-up, and random testing. The chapter establishes the historical and legal context that facilitated the widespread adoption of public sector drug testing programs in the United States.
This chapter provides an overview of drug testing in the workplace. It defines drug testing as the analysis of biological samples like urine to determine if individuals have used drugs. The chapter discusses how drug testing has expanded from mainly the military in the 1970s to now include over 80% of public sector employers. It aims to examine how drug testing was implemented in the public sector through a social scientific lens. The remainder of the chapter covers the technical aspects of drug testing and the key situations where drug tests are used in employment.

The simplified electron and muon model, Oscillating Spacetime: The Foundation...RitikBhardwaj56
Discover the Simplified Electron and Muon Model: A New Wave-Based Approach to Understanding Particles delves into a groundbreaking theory that presents electrons and muons as rotating soliton waves within oscillating spacetime. Geared towards students, researchers, and science buffs, this book breaks down complex ideas into simple explanations. It covers topics such as electron waves, temporal dynamics, and the implications of this model on particle physics. With clear illustrations and easy-to-follow explanations, readers will gain a new outlook on the universe's fundamental nature.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
