Background
Crittenton of Southern California was born out of the opening of the Florence Crittenton Home in Los Angeles in 1892. The country saw a need for a social service program in the early 1960s, this need helped the creation of the Orange County program partnering with The National Association of Florence Crittenton Agencies. ?? (A need on the country's need for social service programs was establish in the early 1960s which helped in the creation of a Orange Country program partnering with The National Association of Florence Crittenton Agencies.) Florence Crittenton Services Orange County was incorporated in 1966 purchasing a home in Santa Ana, CA. The campus transformed from serving only teen mothers to include exploited boys and girls. In 1991 Fullerton Community Hospital was renovated and re-opened, housing adolescent girls and their children as it continues to do today. Currently, Crittenton Southern California serves Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego Counties.
Crittenton’s mission is carried through Crittenton’s Insight Program. Insight is a comprehensive, multi-faceted residential program for assessment, treatment, recovery of Commercial Sexually Exploited Girls. The program focuses on domestic and international teenage girls between ages 12-18. The girls may be runaways, forced into trafficking, or exploited by their “boyfriends”. Crittenton began providing shelter and services for trafficked teenagers and Commercial Sexual Exploited Children (CSEC). Staff are well trained and dedicated to helping young girls who experienced complex traumas; they assist girls to recover and restore them to their whole self.

To serve domestic and international victims by providing a safe and secure in-home and community based treatment for a better and brighter future for both youth and adults.

CYAN is a youth driven organization that promotes and fosters the value of community service, engagement, wellness and leadership. Youth aged 12+ are inspired to engage in a lifetime of volunteerism, skill building, initiative and civic leadership.

The agency I work for is located in the northwestern United States. We serve all age ranges. It is a community mental health center. The center has several different campuses across the county. I believe they serve around 18,000 people: children, adults and older adults. And the programs that they offer are quite extensive. They have counseling services, forensic services, housing and rehabilitation, case management, intensive case management, and then different psycho-educational sorts of things they do as a group. I had two positions within the agency. It is not unusual to stay in an agency and assume a new position.
At first I worked for a program that provided extended support and we provided intensive case management to adults and older adults who were chronically mentally ill. So I worked with a lot of folks who had psychotic disorders and anxiety and depression that were living mostly in adult family homes in the community, which are small residential facilities. They have twenty-four–hour care within the homes and so my role as a case manager was to go to those homes a few times a week to do just case management things.The case manager's job is to make sure clients are thriving in their environment, and everyone is safe and healthy.
I worked in that position for about two years and I carried a caseload of between 20 and 30 people at any given time. We spent a lot of time traveling between houses. And then with the shifts in the budget, I transferred to a different position. I worked in one of the adult community support clinics in the south side of the county. At that particular clinic I was a case manager. Most of our clients would come to us. These clients were more capable of managing public transportation in order to make it to appointments, but they were still very much mentally ill. They had other marginalizing sorts of issues: housing issues, financial issues.

In this agency we focus on meeting the needs of individuals and their families. The individuals, our clients, have difficult medical diagnoses and our goal is to allow them to live in their homes. In additional, all of our clients have other needs, reflecting social, educational, financial, and other family concerns. Meeting these multiple needs requires service coordination. We provide services that meet the specific needs of each client. And we involve the client and the families in service delivery. Coordination and integration support the management process. Sometimes professionals working in mental health and developmental disabilities do not understand how to work together to serve a single client. We provide the bridge.

In the article Trust: Key to Successful Relationship explains the importance of the trust between the franchisor and the franchisee issues can come up there is not any type commutations between the two. One of the statements in the article mentions that it important for the franchisor to review the marketing material provided potential franchisee to make sure the franchisor can and will deliver on the promises that are made in those materials. (Modell, 2010).Just like any type of agreement or advertisement where a company has to back up a service or a product, the franchisor has to standby the statements and promises that were in the material if not that could be some issues where that would cause a lack of trust between the franchisor and the franchisee which can result in legal problems hurting the reputation of the franchisor.

“Trust must be earned; it is not a given”
Trust is essential in any relationship. Trust is not given it is earned. When a relationship of any kind begins the actions of each person or group depicts the direction of the trust. Trust is build by working together and learning each other’s perspectives. Trust has many contributing factors. I think the number one component of trust is honesty and integrity. Honesty makes building trust easier. It provides openness and a point of establishment to know each other and their type of actions. In te being stages of a relationship trust is not easy because you don’t know the other person or group. Some people have alternative motives or hidden agenda that can be harmful to the other person. During the time of building a relationship it is important to give a little trust to provide the opportunity for it to be built. When in any relationship I believe we have to give a little to get a little. Ultimately you have to give trust to earn trust and vice versus.

"Trust is one of the most important elements of a franchisor/franchisee relationship. Without trust, there is no way to ground the relationship, as there will not be effective communication or effective collaboration." (Whiteside, 2010). Trust is the foundation for the whole relationship. If there is not trust between the franchisor and franchisee then there will be break downs in the communication and the collaboration. If the communication breaks down then neither side will know what the other is doing then things will not get accomplished. Without trust the business will suffer because the franchisee will not believe that the franchisor has their business's best intentions in mind. Trust is what holds the relationship together and without it there will be no relationship.

Conduct a brief interview with an Asian immigrant to ask about their immigration story and push-pull factors. This can last 5-15 minutes. Then, write a 2 paragraphs on the DB.
You do
not
have to include the person’s real name! Immigration status is a sensitive topic, so please understand if someone does not want to be interviewed. Students have interviewed friends, family members, people in their community, and other students.

Brief facts:
Around what age did they immigrate? How old are they now (in my 30s is acceptable)? What push-pull factors led them to immigrate to the U.S.? (You may have to explain what push-pull factors are.)
2. Add your own comments/perspective and perhaps even your own immigration story. What aspects of their story did you find interesting or surprising? What aspects were familiar to you?
Example:
I conducted a 10 minute interview with my neighbor "Dr. Villanueva" who immigrated to the U.S. over 45 years ago at the age of 26. I asked him about his push and pull factors. What reasons did he have for leaving his home country and why did he choose the U.S. as his new home? He stated that he wanted to leave the Philippines for a better life and more opportunities. He had grown up as the youngest of nine children and was very poor, but was able to study medicine and become a medical doctor specializing in ophthalmology. He heard that the U.S. was encouraging medical professionals to work there especially if they were fluent in English. According to our reading "Filipinos in America," (Lee 2015) the Philippines was a colony of the U.S. from 1898-1945 and English was taught in the education system (Lee, p. 90). Plus, many Filipinos then and still today dream about immigrating to the United States to improve their educational and financial opportunities. Dr. Villanueva came to the U.S. after the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act abolished national quotas but limited immigration from Asia to educated professionals. When I asked if he felt that he experienced discrimination, Dr. Villanueva said yes, many times, but overall he is glad that he immigrated because his children had so many more opportunities in the U.S. Often, people still think that he is a foreigner or can't speak English. There have been a few occasions that people directed racial slurs at him, but he has not experienced any physical harm.
Dr. Villanueva seems to fit much of the data on Asian Americans that we studied in this class. However, I noticed some ways that he did not. For example, {etc....} Dr. Villanueva's story is much different than my grandparents' story who immigrated from __ and did not have college degrees when they arrived. : There is a Top Secret intelligence report that a terrorist organization based in the Middle East is planning to plant a dirty bomb in the inner harbor of major American city in the next 48 hours. The report has not been officially released or the classification reduced. You (the student) are the Chief of Police of this major metro city and do not have a security clearance at this time. The inner harbor is a major tourist attraction, a major shipping port and home to many international shipping companies, trade zones and military and federal government facilities.
You have heard the report exists but have not seen it. Program Computing Project 4 builds upon CP3 to develop a program to perform truss analysis. A truss consists of straight, slender bars pinned together at their end points. Truss members are considered to be two force, axial members. Thus, the force caused by each truss member - and the internal force in each member - acts only along it’s axis. In other words, the direction of each member force is known and only the magnitudes must be determined. To analyze a truss we study the forces acting at each individual pin joint. This is known as the Method of Joints. We will call each pin joint a node and the slender bars connecting the nodes will be called members. The previous project computed a unit vector to describe the vector direction of every member of a truss structure. To analyze the structure a few other key inputs must be included like the support reactions and external loads applied to the structure. With all of this information, you will need to make the correct changes to the provided planar (2-D) truss template program to be able to analyze a space (3-D) truss. What you need to do For a planar truss, every node has 2 degrees of freedom, the e1 and e2 directions. Therefore, for every planar truss problem, the total number of degrees of freedom (DOF) in the structure is equal to 2 times the number of nodes. We will consider the first degree of freedom for each node as the component acting in the e1 direction. So for any given node, i, the corresponding degree of freedom is (2·i)-1. For the same node, i, the corresponding value for the second degree of freedom, the component in the e2 direction, is 2-i. This numbering notation can be modified for a space truss. The difference with the space truss is that every node has 3 degrees of freedom, one degree for each of the e1, e2 and e3 directions. Crittenton of Southern California was born out of the opening
of the Florence Crittenton Home in Los Angeles in 1892. The
country saw a need for a social service program in the early
1960s, this need helped the creation of the Orange County
program partnering with The National Association of Florence

children as it continues to do today. Currently, Crittenton
Southern California serves Orange, Los Angeles, San
Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego Counties.
Crittenton’s mission is carried through Crittenton’s Insight
Program. Insight is a comprehensive, multi-faceted residential
program for assessment, treatment, recovery of Commercial
Sexually Exploited Girls. The program focuses on domestic and
international teenage girls between ages 12-18. The girls may
be runaways, forced into trafficking, or exploited by their
“boyfriends”. Crittenton began providing shelter and services
for trafficked teenagers and Commercial Sexual Exploited
Children (CSEC). Staff are well trained and dedicated to
helping young girls who experienced complex traumas; they
assist girls to recover and restore them to their whole self.

offering group home aftercare services and Wrap Around family
services as well as family preservation.
· In an effort to prepare the girls for a brighter future,
transitional and housing specialists, transitional youth program
services and independent living skills programming are offered.

Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment, Substance Abuse Treatment,
an On-Site Continuing Education Program, Commercially
Sexually Exploited Children Treatment Program, and a Teen

3. External Opportunities
a. Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force
The Crittenton task force currently assembled in Fullerton is
more advanced and progressive than that of organizations in LA
County. Crittenton is currently in the process of trying to bring
this practice to other areas. Moreover, steps have been taken to
build partnerships with faith-based communities to provide
direct services and aid to the youth by training them to become
mentors and providing additional safe housing. Additionally,
several programs are being developed in conjunction with the
Salvation Army and Orangewood Children and Family Center to
serve victims of trafficking. Overall, Crittenton has a strong
8. community partnership from faith based organizations to the
police department, these strong ties provide Crittenton with a
competitive advantage as they go above and beyond to meet
their clients needs.
b. Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation (CASE)
The government plays a critical role in the CSEC program, it is
the primary partner in CASE in San Bernardino. CASE is a
partnership primarily made up of government agencies along
with community partners. There are nine County Departments
involved in CASE in San Bernardino, these include the
following: District Attorney, Public Defender, Probation,
Children & Family Services, Children’s Network, Public Health,
Department of Behavioral Health, County Superintendent of
Schools and Sheriff’s Department. There are also partnerships
with the Superior Court of California and Juvenile Division
(San Bernardino).
Each department plays a different and significant role in CASE
relative to their role in the County. The District Attorney is
responsible for prosecuting the traffickers, Children & Family
Services provides a Social Service Practitioner to the CASE
MDT, etc. All of the departments involved in CASE are
responsible for pieces of those goals relative to their roles
within the County as mentioned before. As a result, each
department has different objectives but work toward a larger
goal.
c. Community Volunteers
The staff works with community-based and faith-based
participation. Community members are attracted to the cause of
the organization, and they demonstrate their dedication by
committing approximately one year of training in order to work
with the victims. A large percentage of their volunteers come
from faith-based churches and organizations that come to the
9. campus and sponsor events for the girls.
d. Reputation in the Community
Due to the reputation and long years of developing programs,
staff are now asked by other agencies to create the curriculum
and planning for external initiatives.
e. Relationship with Police Department
Crittenton has provided trainings for local law enforcement to
shift their perception of CSEC victims, to help officers identify
young girls who might be victims of CSEC in the community. It
is important for officers to understand how to respond to
situations when victims leave, “AWOL” the facility. Further,
they are working to change the young girls perception of police
officers. The environment within one specific police station has
drastically changed; children cooperate more easily, instead of
it feeling like an interrogation room. There are opportunities for
other police stations to follow a similar change.

and diverse expertise--there are still needs that need to be met
for the girls. Crittenton provides a wide range of services that
assist the girls but staff fears that they do not meet all the

the girls are truly ready to go home.

agencies expect immediate results and assistance, but every case
the staff encounters is different. As results are not immediate,

including traffickers and consumers of CSEC. Despite the

aware of of the problem.
