Identifying a Strategic Goal 1 st   - Identify a Carlson School Strategic goal you feel your department and position supports. 2 nd  - Follow the SMARTA strategy for determining a personal strategic goal that will support the Carlson School Strategic goal you selected. 3 rd  – Follow the G-WAVE strategy for accomplishing your strategic goal.
SMARTA specific measurable attainable results-orientated timebound agreed Is it precise? Is it detailed? Exactly how much, how big? Can you tell that you have achieved it? Are there clear boundaries? Is it possible (whilst at the same time being a “stretch”)? Does it really excite you and provide you with the results you want to achieve? Is there a clear timeframe? Is there a deadline? Is it possible to “agree” to it?

Example Goal: (SG #10) Contribute to the ongoing development and productivity of staff by developing a job standards training that assist supervisors in evaluating employee productivity. Developing the training would enable supervisors to effectively measure job performance and enable employees to be more productive and engaged. Complete in 6 months Determine length of training Create an application tool Research previous job standard trainings Complete a dry-run The training would be interactive with supervisors fully engaged. The  application tool would be used to implemented across the school to help improve productivity and  performance measurement. I will engage support from my supervisor Jessica who has experience developing trainings for the Carlson School.
