I changed this to a more sharper sound rather than a dull hum because the
sharpness adds a slight thrill and distortion to the scene. The dull hum is heard a
more relaxing while screeching/sharp noises makes a person uncomfortable and
more on-edge. There is still the same effect of using a gradual way of building the
sound up so the tension can rise which was my initial goal I wanted to achieve at
the start. This is just to make it obvious that the film is of a horror genre sector
and doesn’t confuse the audience.

3. Scene: 2:46-2:50

Instead the camera position was changing creating less time in the kitchen- I chose the
decision of not placing a static noise in the scene because silence conveys with
loneliness- and this makes the scene more horror like because according to horror
conventions, isolated areas are more targeted by antagonists and this correlates with the
quiet. This scene was moved to a POV camera work instead so I used this to my
advantage and added a subtle hum that would signify a presence watching Jessica. This
contrasts against the silence so the audience knows that she isn’t lonely anymore.

4. Scene: 2:57-3:14

Instead I placed a cry sound of a child instead of a giggle so it could foreshadow
future events of the protagonist- pain and suffering. I also changed the loud
thumps to a sharper sound- same with the effect of the opening scene- sharper
tinges of sound are more effective in sounding distorted and abnormal.
