Before I started the MCBS Program I was living in my home country
Venezuela, I was graduating from high school and at the same time I
was thinking about what I should do next.
Venezuela’s economical and political situation is very complicated today, for
instance I didn’t want to build my future there, and I was scared that I’ve
had to if I didn’t figure out things fast.
I always thought that I wanted to do something I feel I’m good at, so I
was a little bit scared about this too, since I was just graduating from
high school and I didn’t have any job experiences in the industry besides
being a part time model while I was studying.
One thing I was sure about was that if I was going to do
something, it had to be something that I felt passionate about,
that I felt I was good at, and that was productive.
I have always disliked being forced to do things, specially if there were
things that made me waste my time, I am not much of a rules type of girl,
and for me there is nothing more precious than time; I think that is why
I never liked high school.
But then one day, when I was daydreaming like I usually do, I decided to write
down my skills, after that I realized I am who I am because I am creative; that is the
one skill that I have that convinced me to go for Full Sail, because creativity has no
rules and that was exactly what I was looking for.
Because of that I decided to make a trip to Orlando and visit Full Sail
University to see for myself if it was as amazing as it seemed online, so I got
there and I did the famous behind the scenes tour, and immediately fell in love.
At first I didn’t know Media and Communication existed in Full Sail so I
was looking at Film; even though I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to do that,
but then I met a girl who told me about the MCBS program and it got my
attention.
Because of that I started doing research about it and I felt like it was the
one thing I wanted to do, mostly because in my life I’ve always liked to
do many things and not just one, and I knew I could be good at it as well,
so I went all in.
For this reason I decided to tell my parents about it, and show them what
it was about and I am grateful to say that like always, they supported me.
At first it was really hard for me, leaving my parents and my grandmother.
Latin American people are all about family, and it is not as common as
it is here for people to move alone at a very young age.
But me, I am all about animals, and leaving my three dogs so far away from me was
something that I never though about before; to be honest I cried a lot, I was scared
and even though I knew I wanted this, at first I felt like being apart from my dogs
and family was impossible for me.
Until I finally made the decision to come here and take this amazing
opportunity, because sometimes in life you have to make big sacrifices in
order to achieve big things.
Even though leaving the country, and living in another country, both
are extremely difficult for us Venezuelans at this very moment,
everything became so simple for me to come here, and I realized this
was definitively something that was meant to be.
And ever since I decided to pursue my passion for media…
