Judges, Senior Project Committee
Dear Judges,
I am a very family and friend oriented person. My friends
and family are everything to me. My parents divorced
when I was young, so it has always just been me, my
mother, and my older sister. I have overcome a lot of
obstacles in my life. I have come up with the philosophy of
“When someone puts you down and says you canʼt do
something, get up and prove them wrong”. I am a creative
and openminded person. For this, I have been bullied and
ridiculed my whole life. All throughout middle and high
school, I have had the label of “weird kid”. Too happy, too
hyper, too loud, too different. Iʼve never had many friends,
but the ones I do are people I know I can always count on.
I have worked my way through many struggles, and I have
become the person I am today. These struggles have led
me to my career choice. They have shown me not to take
a simple friendship for granted. They have proved to me
how strong I am. They have taught me that I can do
anything that I set my mind to.
Like I said, I am an open minded person. So according to
many, I have some “weird” hobbies. I like to listen to music
all the time. I like all genres as well as music that is in

understand the words but I like it because I can focus on
how the vocals sound with the music instead of on the
words themselves. I like to read a lot. You can usually find
me with my nose in a book. I find peace in knitting and
crocheting. I find it lots of fun to bake things. Its messy and
delicious. Most of all, however, I like to go places with my
friends and just get out and have fun with them.
I have attended Mooresville schools since third grade. I do
not remember where I went before that. The career I wish
to pursue is Elementary Education. After high school, I
plan to go to Mitchell Community College for two years to
bring my up my grade point average. After that I would like
to get into Appalachian State University. I have heard and
read that their teacher education program is very good.
High school has been interesting. I have learned a lot
about who I am and who I want to be. I like the senior
project. My freshman through junior year I dreaded doing
the senior project. Now that I am doing it, I realize that it is
not that bad. As long as you do the work and donʼt
procrastinate, it is easy. I am grateful for the project. It has
taught me time management, meeting deadlines,
perseverance, and public speaking skills. I am glad that I
have had this experience.
Sincerely,
