The document is a collection of quotes and passages about stories and experiences. It discusses how memory is more important than actuality, how storytelling affects memory, and the importance of first impressions. Throughout the document are recommendations to make the right first impression, then disappear yet still be remarkable.

SCRPPY aims to create the next generation of creative and collaborative problem solvers by developing an online platform that brings young makers together to work on ideas and inventions. Their market research shows strong interest from parents and a potential market of over 2 million subscribers in the US alone. SCRPPY's core belief is that the world will be better if kids can solve problems together rather than working alone.

The document proposes unlocking the potential of retired and prematurely retired workers for temporary, mid-skilled jobs through a platform called "TwentyPlus." It notes challenges with full retirement and issues like isolation. While sites like Craigslist and TaskRabbit help drive gig work, they don't elevate the expertise of experienced workers. The proposed platform would tap into the world's most experienced workforce, provide hobbyist teams and digital interaction. It outlines the large potential market and opportunity, and proposes a business model with a 5% transaction fee and $50 annual membership.

Marketers and brands have always had conversations, but at a much slower pace and mediated by professional parties. That's no longer the case. Conversation 2.0, that is, the web 2.0-enabled conversation, shifts places and times; it is ubiquitous and doesn't pause -- it is, in all senses of the meaning, a "never ending conversation."
This document discusses the need for a better way for people to know what skills they should learn next to advance their careers or expand their perspectives. It notes that 70% of employees are disengaged and unhappy at work, costing the US economy $500 billion annually. It proposes a new platform to simplify complexity, provide fast and immersive learning, and engage users with community-powered and trusted content to help different career-minded personality types ("The Hungry Mind", "The Keeper-Upper", "The Track-Jumper", "The Rebooter"). The goals are to help users set learning goals, track progress, get expert advice, and find new jobs or partnerships.

The document discusses designing interactive experiences. It defines experience as a collection of events or activities from which knowledge, opinions, and skills are gained. When designing interactive experiences, factors like functionality, visuality, interactivity, and various form factors must be considered. Prototyping is also discussed as an important part of the design process. Interactive prototyping can incorporate sensors and devices to test interactivity. The document concludes that when designing experiences, people generally like to be impressed by complexity, test technology, be passive or reactive, see themselves interacting, and simply have fun.
The document summarizes 7+1 things the author learned from giving a speech at his alma mater. The key lessons are: (1) Accept opportunities from passionate students and be inspired by their effort; (2) Hearing stories of people who struggled but succeeded in Greece gives hope; (3) Share your own story and experiences to inspire others; (4) Make new friends and learn from younger people; (5) Keep presentations concise using the 1:7:140 rule; (6) Engage the audience and create a unique presentation for them; (7) Prepare like it is a race to speak without notes; (7+1) Get comfortable speaking on your own unique style.

This document presents a concept called "Fresh Start" that aims to make it easier for people to end services with companies like cable providers, banks, or gyms. It notes that frustration and hassle are major barriers preventing people from switching providers. Fresh Start would provide advice, resources, and negotiation tactics to help people have "difficult conversations" to end services. It could even handle the process for people. The goal is to help people move on to better matches once the "breakup" is complete. Fresh Start would generate revenue through subscription fees, brokering better deals between customers and providers, and promoting service providers.
TEDx - China: The World's Most Misunderstood Brandlukelombe

How do you shape the world's most misunderstood band?
Re-positioning China as a vibrant, innovative, and culturally relevant country is a massive undertaking that faces significant challenges. Exactly how is China going to rebrand itself in the 21st Century?

Americans spend $15 billion a year on gym memberships they don't use. Two thirds of members don't go to their gym. Meanwhile, people maintain gym memberships that are not right for them. Pegasus aims to lower monthly fees, expand wellness experiences, and make it easy to replace or adjust memberships as needs change. It provides access to new clients and partners for brand exposure while filling unsold inventory. The target audience is those paying average or above average monthly gym fees of $58. Revenue is projected to grow significantly over three years while maintaining positive profit margins.
Ted Leonsis predicts the following in 2016:
- E-gaming leagues will rival major sports leagues in attendance and revenue; over-the-top (OTT) content will become the primary platform for millennials.
- Advances in wearables will add 3-5 years to life expectancy while regulation of drones and risks of cyberterrorism and hackable cars will intensify.
- The influence of "Super Cities" will surpass most countries and the practical challenges of driverless cars will emerge while optimism declines.
- Mergers will see newer companies acquire older ones in unexpected partnerships. The Olympics may include robot and e-sports events.

Angular.js + Rails at WeWork or: The Accidental FeatureJonathan Magen
The document discusses how Angular.js was used together with Rails to build features for WeWork's internal tools, including inline editing, audit trails, and internationalization. It describes how Rails provides RESTful JSON endpoints that Angular consumes via ngResource to retrieve and modify data. Rails also helps render Angular templates, which can include localized text. The initial use of Angular.js was to enable inline editing of inventory records, which led to expanding its use for other features within the Rails codebase.
Art harder! Of the importance of visual design in digital. Zélia Sakhi
The document discusses the importance of visual design in digital products. It emphasizes that good design creates preferences and becomes memorable, leading to a great product. However, design is a team effort that requires communication and collaboration between visual designers, developers, UX designers, and account owners. The goal of design is to give products personality, not just make them pretty, with art direction being how the UI expresses itself.
Microsoft Design principles and UI – Alius Petraška, Adroiti Technologies
Windows UI style design has a set of five guiding principles to help you make the best choices when designing your app. These principles are the foundation for building great Windows Store apps. Consider these principles as you plan your app, and always ensure your design and development choices live up to these principles which this session will help provide context.
Motivated by curiosity and a strong conviction that the tools and methods of design thinking ignite innovative ideas and solutions, a group of Portland-based, like-minded practitioners set out to survey the local landscape. Our goal: to uncover the tactics, challenges, benefits and themes surrounding design thinking in our community.
This is the result.
We found more than a dozen common themes and insights. Some of them speak directly to the benefits of a design thinking approach. Some express deep challenges to making that approach work in the real world. In all cases, we are pleasantly surprised by the conviction, passion, and commitment to overcoming those challenges and sharing the benefits of design thinking. !

This document discusses the principles and philosophy behind Modern UI design at Microsoft. It describes Modern UI as a timeless design style based on established principles like information design and influences from Swiss design, Bauhaus, and wayfinding. The document outlines key elements of Modern UI like its use of color, type, icons, grids, motion and interaction principles. It provides examples of how Modern UI has been applied and discusses best practices for creating distinctly Modern UI experiences.
