4. Management
Collect fallen infested fruits and dispose them by dumping in a pit
Provide summer ploughing to expose the pupa
Monitor the activity of flies with methyl eugenol sex lure traps.
Bait spray - combing any one of the insecticides and molasses or jaggery 10 g/l,
malathion 50EC 2 ml/l,
dimethoate 30 EC 1 ml/l,
carbaryl 50 WP 4 g/l. two rounds at 2 weeks interval before ripening of fruits.

Symptoms of damage
Grub makes zigzag tunnels in pulp
Eats unripe tissue and bore into cotyledons
Fruit dropping at marble stage
oviposition injuries on marble sized fruits.
Tunnelled cotyledons in mature fruit by grubs.
6. Identification of pest
Grub - A full grown grub is legless, fleshly and yellow
with dark head.
Dark weevils after emergence remain inactive, hidden
in the cracks and crevices on the trunk
Adult - Adult is dark brown with a short snout.

Collect and destroy the fallen fruits
Maintain hygiene in storage place
Spray any one of the following pesticides
Acephate 75 SP 1.5g/lit. or Lambdacyhalothrin 5 EC 2.5 ml/lit at marble size stage of
fruits, Phosalone 35 EC 2 ml/lit against Mango nut weevil

Symptoms of damage:
Caterpillar bore into the fruits and feed on the pulp
Infested leaves and fruits show tunnels with frass
9. Identification of the pest:
Larva: Pinkish-white caterpillar with black or mottled
black head
Adult: small greyish moth, chocolate brown patches
near the tip of foreswings

Field sanitation
Collect and destroy the infested fruits and cocoons
Banding - corrugated cardboard bands should be applied to tree trunks
Use sex pheromone trap
Mass trap males with codling moth lure traps
Release egg parasitoids, Trichogramma embryophagum at 2000/tree
Apply Virosoft CP4 Granulovirus
Codling moth larvae must eat the virus before they enter the fruit
Spray DDVP 0.04%
Apply acetempride (4 application per season) during egg laying stage
11. Scientific name: Ephestia cautella
Symptoms of damage
Larva feeds on germ portion leaving the rest of the kernel
undamaged.
In bulk infestation its damage is limited to peripheral top
layers only.
Web formation covers the bags, floor-space and mill
machinery thereby leading to clogging in mills.
12. Identification of the pest
Egg: Eggs are laid in grains exposed at the sampling tube spots
in jute bags.
Larva: Greyish white, hairy with dark brown head with 2 dark
areas on the first segment behind the head.
Pupa: Spins silken cocoon at the time of pupation.
Adult: Dirty white to greyish in colour with indistinct black bands
