The document describes the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) which consists of 6 phases to ensure software quality: 1) Requirement Analysis where testable requirements are identified, 2) Test Planning which describes the testing strategy and plan, 3) Test Case Development where test cases and data are created, 4) Test Environment Setup where testing conditions are decided, 5) Test Execution where testing is performed based on test plans and cases, and 6) Test Closure Activities which ensure testing is complete and artifacts are handed over. The STLC uses entry and exit criteria to determine when a phase can begin or end.

Software Testing Life Cycle is a sequence of activities conducted during
testing process to ensure software quality goals are met.
There are 6 major phases in STLC model:

3. Entry and Exit Criteria in STLC
Entry Criteria
Entry Criteria gives the prerequisite items that must be
completed before testing can begin.
Exit Criteria
Exit Criteria defines the items that must be completed
before testing can be concluded.

4. 1.Requirement Analysis
It is in which test team studies the requirements from a
testing point of view to identify testable requirements.
QA team may interact with various stakeholders to
understand requirements in detail.
Identify types of tests to be performed.
Gather details about testing priorities and focus.
Identify test environment details where testing is supposed to
be carried out.

5. 2.Test Planning
It is a document which contains the plan related to all testing
activities which needs to be done to deliver a quality product.
Senior QA Manager determines test plan strategy along with
efforts and cost estimates for the project.

6. 3.Test Case Development
Testing team write down all test cases.
Prepare test data.
Test cases are reviewed by peer members or QA lead.
This Phase involves the creation,verification and
rework of test cases and test script after the test plan is
ready.

7. 4.Test Environment Setup
Decides the software and hardware conditions under
which a work product is tested.
It can be done in parallel with test case development
phase.
Generic thing may not repeat for every story.
Needs to be discussed in sprint grooming.
We can have multiple QA server.

8. 5.Test Execution
The testers in which testing of the software build is done
based on test plans and test case prepared.
The process consists of test script execution ,test script
maintenance and bug reporting.
It tracks the defects to closure
Test cases are updated with the results.

9. 6.Test Closure Activities
Test closure activities are done mostly after the product is
delivered
