Still Images Analysis:
This image shows a still shot from the trailer 21 Jump Street, it is a wide shot and shows three
characters within the scene. The action being performed by the characters are humorous and shows
un-likely acts from a police officer adding to the humour already created. It has the background in
the shot to also show what they are doing is in a public place for everyone to see. It creates an easy
tension within the film linking to the stereotypical views that comedy films are easy to watch and
enjoyable to view. This will help me when it comes to me having to develop my film trailer looking at
the ways which this film creates an easy natured atmosphere when watching it.
In this image it shows the scene changing from an outside scene to an inside scene which the officers
are in a two shot, as you can see both of them. It shows that they are in a bad situation from there
facial expressions. This links the scene which has just happened before this. You can see the
background behind the two characters is an office adding to the interview idea. The mise-en-scene
used in this scene is police uniform as they are police officers.
This image now shows a development within the scene and the mise-en-scene within the trailer.
They have developed a more professional looking police uniform signifying to the audience that they
have had some sort of promotion. Also the scene has changed from an office to a sort of abandoned
warehouse setting showing that they might have been assigned to a new department within the
police unit. This then makes a funny humorous scene as they are dressed nicer form a worse setting
showing that they might not also be the smartest of police officers.
This scene then shows again the same people from the previous scene but in school clothing
showing that in the previous scene they are dressed wrong. Also the mise-en-scene of the other
characters now matches to those of the other squad members showing that they are a unit. This is
conventional of the comedy genre as they have already shown at the start of the trailer what it was
like at high school when they was suppose to be there and now they are being sent back.
