The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has decided to take matters into its own hands and maintain public toilets, allocating 50 crore rupees for repairs and upgrades. The Delhi government is also working to improve public facilities and infrastructure in preparation for the Commonwealth Games, including renovating 94 public toilets and extending sewer lines to 30 villages. However, the closure of several public toilets in lower income areas has denied women and the elderly access to basic sanitation. Residents have protested slow government action on issues like water, electricity, and sewage problems in unauthorized colonies.
