This document discusses computing the point estimate of a population mean. It provides examples of taking random samples from a population and computing the mean of each sample. The means of all the samples are then averaged to obtain the point estimate of the population mean. For example, one problem describes Spiderman claiming a bottle contains 500 ml of juice on average. Six dwarves each took random samples of bottles and computed the mean of each sample, finding means ranging from 497.1 to 498.4. Averaging all the sample means gave a point estimate of 497.83 for the population mean, slightly less than Spiderman's claim of 500 ml.
