StartupBus is an annual competition where tech communities compete to launch a new business on a bus ride to Texas. Teams of coders, designers, and business people work non-stop from March 2nd to 6th to develop an idea. Past winners have gone on to found successful startups like Branch and Instacart. The competition is now global, with buses traveling within the US, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Scandinavia. To apply for the San Francisco bus, participants pay $299 and submit an online application by the deadline, answering questions about themselves. Accepted applicants will travel and work on the bus to Texas to launch a new technology business in just a few days.
