Awakens – Media Campaign

Social Media Campaign
• There was a lot of social media used to advertise this Star Wars
installment, There was a teaser trailer released on 28th November
2014 a year before the film was actually released. They then released
another trailer but, this was the official trailer which was released
October 19th 2015. Jimmy Fallon a TV host, is a huge Star Wars fan
and he teamed up with some of the Episode 7 cast and the band “The
Roots” to make an acapella video which was all famous Star Wars
tracks from other films. This created a lot more publicity for the
movie.

Advertising Cross Promotions
• Before Star Wars the Force Awakens was released, a lot of
merchandise was being released around the globe. The merchandise
which was released varied from posters, pop vinyl, mugs, Lego,
costumes and many more.
Website
• As part of their campaign, Disney released an official website for Star
Wars VII so that fans could keep up to date with developments of the
film and more about what will be happening in the future.
