Judaism, based on teachings in the Talmud, considers Jews as privileged over other people and ranks them higher than all non-Jewish people. Hinduism suffered from a rigid caste system that treated some as gods and others as slaves. A universal system must respect the rights of all people and regard all humans as equal.
This document discusses the need for a universal system of beliefs and values that can provide solutions to humanity's problems. It outlines several criteria such a system should meet, including: emphasizing equality regardless of social factors, tolerating diversity of beliefs and cultures, not contradicting scientific advancement, and addressing issues like addiction, crime, and abuse. The document then examines several existing systems against these criteria, including religions like Christianity, Hinduism, and Islam, as well as political ideologies like capitalism. It aims to identify which system could serve as the basis for universal application and guidance for humanity.
The Ghazali Project: Countering Enlightenment EpistemologyAsad Zaman
Centuries of Religious Wars led Enlightenment Philosophers to seek to build society on secular foundations, to achieve peace. This required an epistemology which would be acceptable to all. This led to the idea of objective knowledge, based on facts and logic, which would be equally acceptable to all. This also led to the exclusion of subjective reality, the heart, the soul and the lived experiences of human beings, as sources of knowledge. This was an enormous error, which has led to knowledge being built on the wrong foundations for the past few centuries. The Ghazali Project is an attempt to counter this mistake, to rebuild human knowledge on sound foundations, and to create an alternative to toxic educational systems currently in use globally.
This document discusses the prohibition of riba (usury or interest) in Islam. It begins by defining riba as interest of any size, as earning income without risk is against Islamic principles. It then explains how riba leads to an unfair concentration of wealth and distortion of markets. The document traces the origins of riba banking to 17th century Venice, where Christians legitimized the practice by having Jews conduct riba lending. It argues that without riba, the world economy could still grow through equity-based Islamic finance. The document also discusses how Western colonialism secularized Muslim societies and separated religion from other aspects of life. It advocates for the Islamization of knowledge by infusing modern disciplines with Islamic concepts and values
The talk highlighted the situation that the Ummah is in and what should we do to overcome the situation. As MCOBS we should try our bit to help in the implementation of the' Real Islamic Financial System.

Decolonization of Education: Islamic Perspective - HBKUAsad Zaman
Meeting the intellectual challenge created by Eurocentric knowledge is the central task facing the Muslims. This requires decolonization of education, via a modern day Ghazali Project.
With the rapid development in the areas of science and technology, many things and ideas come to see the light of the day. Not all that come in the name of progress and development are acceptable to the Muslims who have a unique metaphysical framework (Aqaid) of their own. Nevertheless, without the proper understanding of their Islamic worldview, Muslims are bound to face a lot of challenges from contending ideologies like Secularism, Post-modernism, Liberalism, Humanism, etc. Sad to say, in modern times a small portion from the Muslim community, particularly those who are not well grounded in their understanding of their worldview have gone astray in believing all is well in modern science which mainly comes from the West. This presentation is an endeavor by the research team to highlight what can be adopted and should be discarded in dealing with modern science. This presentation has also highlighted the fact and driven home the message to the Muslim community that a total rejection of modern science is not an ideal thing to do. As such, they have to be meticulously selective in choosing the goodness that comes from modern science.

This document discusses the principle of equality in various religions and ideologies. It argues that Islam is the only option that truly respects the rights of all people and regards all humans as equal members of one nation, in spite of differences. Christianity is analyzed from the Bible and found to have a message limited to the Israelites. Capitalism encourages division between rich and poor. While communism, socialism, and the Hindu caste system have all failed to establish true equality. Only Islam remains as a system that appeals to all with its fundamental principle of universal equality.
This document provides an overview of youth and discusses defining characteristics of youth. It explores different definitions of youth, arguing that youth should not be defined solely by age ranges. Key points:
- Youth are those still undergoing physical and mental development, displaying dynamism and energy, and seeking direction in life.
- For statistical purposes, youth are typically defined as ages 16-35, though definitions vary widely between organizations and countries.
- Youth movements are distinct from student movements, and youth unemployment is a challenge faced after education, not limited to ages 16-24.
- Nearly half the global population is under 25, with 1.7 billion aged 10-24 and 1.1 billion aged 15-24
1. The document is a letter from Hassan Al-Banna, the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, to the King of Egypt in 1947 urging him to guide Egypt according to Islamic principles rather than Western ways.
2. Al-Banna argues that Islam provides the best path for Egypt, pointing to the historical success of Islamic civilization and the current failures of the Western world. He asserts that following Islamic rules and values will unite Arabs and Muslims and lead to prosperity.
3. The letter maintains that Islam can solve problems better than other systems and will receive divine support. It concludes by insisting that only Islam can provide what the Egyptian nation needs to succeed.

This document provides an introduction to Milestones by Syed Qutb. It makes three key points:
1) Modern Western and Eastern ideologies like democracy, socialism, and Marxism have failed to provide meaningful guidance for humanity. A new leadership is needed.
2) Islam is uniquely positioned to provide this new leadership, as it can offer spiritual and moral guidance while also embracing material progress. But Islam must first be revived in the form of an Islamic society.
3) For Islam to attain global leadership, it must offer humanity an alternative way of life that fulfills spiritual and moral needs in the way technology has fulfilled material needs. This alternative must be based on Islamic principles and take concrete form in an

Mining can have significant negative impacts on water resources through water pollution and depletion. For every tonne of copper extracted, 99 tonnes of waste rock and tailings must be removed, generating massive amounts of waste. This waste is a major source of water pollution through acid mine drainage and heavy metal leaching. Mining also increases erosion and sedimentation risks. Past mining has left lasting legacies of contaminated water that are expensive to remediate and have damaged fisheries and ecosystems. Improved regulations and practices are needed to better prevent water pollution and protect water resources for future generations.
This document presents observations about how people find time for leisure activities like sports and entertainment but not for religious activities like going to the mosque or reading the Quran. It notes how people are eager to socialize with friends but struggle to think of things to say in prayer. It encourages sharing religious messages rather than just jokes in order to inspire people to prioritize their faith.
The document lists various ways to invest in good deeds and earn hasanat, or rewards, through charitable acts such as giving the Quran to others to read from, donating a wheelchair to a hospital, helping to educate children, teaching others to recite duas, sharing constructive materials, participating in building a mosque, planting a tree, and sharing the message with others. It encourages the reader to forward the message to earn hasanat until the Day of Judgment.

The document provides background on the early life of Prophet Abraham and the origins of monotheism. It describes how Abraham realized the futility of idol worship and rejected the pagan beliefs of his people in Ur, who worshipped statues. Despite facing punishment and persecution for his beliefs, including an attempt to burn him alive, Abraham persisted in preaching monotheism and calling people to worship Allah alone. He tried unsuccessfully to convince his father Azar, who disowned Abraham for rejecting the town's idols. This set the stage for Abraham establishing the foundations of monotheistic belief that would continue through subsequent prophets.
Only 10% of an iceberg is visible above the waterline, with the remaining 90% hidden below the surface. This iceberg phenomenon is also applicable to humans, where only a small portion of one's knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, beliefs and motives are visible to others, with most remaining unknown. Maintaining a positive attitude is important as it acts as a magnet for positive results and creates a chain reaction of positive thoughts, which can help one achieve more.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

Islam is as much a social reform system as
it is a theological concept
The path to people’s hearts, lies in the

Standard setters vs followers
The Prophet changed the perspective of

Rome-The Model Empire
“The secret of Rome's success had less to do with
spears and centurions than with culture, psychology,
media and technology. In the New World, the
American domination of the globe owes a great deal
to the Roman example. The Roman Empire may
belong to ancient history, but its echoes resonate
through today's structures of international power and

Joint Responsibility
The so-called learned people in worldly

people grew and continues to grow
Ordinary people forgot that the solutions to

The Peak was the Decline
When the focus shifted from setting
standards to imitating and competing … the
decline began.
When we forgot the purpose of our creation
and compromised our standards and sold our
ideology for a few pieces of silver.

The Path of Decline
Innovations & shirk crept into the practice of Islam in
the name of spirituality, tradition, local customs etc.
Pursuit of worldly pleasure became universal
Ulema who objected to this were persecuted
mercilessly; from Abu Hanifa (R) to Ibn Taymiyya (R)
People lost sight of how the ‘Deen’ could make them
winners in the ‘Duniya’ so they abandoned it.
We forgot that the ‘Aakhira’ is the reward

Are we ready to

The purpose of this presentation is to encourage us to look at the Core Purpose of our creation in the light of the Word of the Creator, The Qur’an.
It is our belief that the only way to be successful in this world and in the Hereafter is by understanding this Purpose and to do our best to fulfill it. It is when we lose sight of this Purpose and the ultimate goal of all mankind: Success in the Hereafter; that we get embroiled in the self created complexities of this life until the day comes when we have to meet our Creator.
Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala says: The one who has been freed from the Hell fire and has been entered into Paradise is the only one who is successful. The attraction of the life of this world is nothing but deception
He also says: You will see (O! Prophet) the wrongdoers stand (before their Lord) with their heads hanging in shame; saying O! Our Lord, we have seen and heard. Send us back (into the world) and we will be among the obedient ones.
The purpose of this presentation is to enable us to make an intelligent choice about what we want to do with this life. A choice that is based on the certain knowledge of the Qur’an and not the unreliable path of our whims and desires. A choice that will lead us to happiness in this world and the Hereafter.
Anything good in this is from the guidance of Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala and anything bad is from the misguidance of the shaitaan and my own nafs. I ask for our dua for my forgiveness (maghfirah) and guidance (hidayah).
When where you want to go is more important that where you are (differential), then you move towards it and grow.
Sura Al Hadeed: Ayahs 19 & 20. These ayahs show the perspective change that Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala) wants us to make and which the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) changed for His Companions.
Today the paradox is that we want peace, harmony, plenty, comfort, lack of fear and stress, but we are not willing to do anything to please the only One who can make this happen. Whenever the choice is between what is pleasing to us and what is pleasing to Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala we choose in favor of ourselves. Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala calls this ‘worshipping the nafs (self)’ and a form of shirk (Al Furqan: 43-44 Do you see such a one who has taken for his god his own passion (or desire)? Could you be a disposer of affairs for him? Or do you think that most of them listen or understand? They are only like cattle; nay they are worse (than cattle) astray in Path.)
If you want to know how great a leader you are, count the number of people who have benefited from you. That is the surest indicator of leadership.
