In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. NEWS FROM THE POND
The fish in the water feature are a very small community,
comprising 4 tiny fish called White Cloud whose principal diet is
mosquito larvae, and possibly one gold fish, whose principle diet
is mosquito larvae or tiny fish. The pump now runs 24/7, their
water is thoroughly oxygenated, and Laurel’s water irises are
potted, sitting on a platform of repurposed bread crates. If any
parishioner wishes to re-home a fish, or knows of a homeless fish,
they would be a welcome addition to the community.
Native Pygmy Perch, or smaller pond fish preferred.

Dear Ruth Shelley has been diligently manning our Just Manna,

valuable pastoral role, but as you know, they are currently in
Victoria.
Ruth welcomes any willing helpers, but would particularly like men
to be with her, as male clients often need to try on male attire.
If you could spare an hour of your time on any particular Friday,
please telephone Ruth: 0411018672

SWEEP CLEAN THE ROOMS OF OUR
HEART
A YEAR WITH THOMAS MERTON
In recent times the pandemic has affected us all. Some people
expressed how it mentally affected them, others shared their joy for
the quiet life. Most of us would have experienced a mixture of
experiences. The writings and spirit of Thomas Merton can be a guide
to shine light on the multiple rooms and ways of our mind, heart and
soul. The aim of this reading group is to grow deeper into our
personal spirituality, into deepened inner freedom. The group is
suitable for everyone who has been put on a spiritual journey, and
wants to further explore the dialogue between our inner and outer
Source. Following Merton’s example, we will practice self-reflection
by ways of journal writing, and creative journaling.
When: Once a month, for a year, on Thursday mornings
from 9am - 11am, starting in September.
Where: in Beaconsfield.
In case of renewed social restrictions, we will continue via Zoom.
Costs: donation
