2. ST. PATRICK’S DAY IS CELEBRATED IN IRELAND, WHICH IS
DIVIDED INTO TWO COUNTRIES :
1. Nothern Ireland (it belongs to United Kingdom)
2. The Republic of Ireland.
3. St. Patrick was born in Wales, as a child he was kidnapped and
taken to Ireland by pirates, he was a slave there for 6 years.
4. He became a bishop and returned to Ireland to convert Irish
people to Christianity, he used a SHAMROCK as a symbol to
explain the concept of “trinity”
5. Patrick died on the 17 th March, and this day the
whole world commemorates his life with different
parades, the most important ones in:
1. Dublin ( Republic of Ireland)
2. New York (USA)
3. Chicago (USA) they turn the river green!!!
6. In Ireland it rains from 150 to 225 days a year, so
everything is green, this is why Ireland is called the
EMERALD ISLE, just have a look on Google MAPS
7. As it rains a lot …believe it or not there are more sheep than humans in
the island!!!
