This study examined differences between people who identify as asexual (n=41) and those who do not (n=1,105) based on responses to online questionnaires. Key findings: 1) Those who identified as asexual reported significantly lower levels of sexual desire, sexual arousability, and one type of sexual inhibition compared to others. 2) About half of those identifying as asexual had previously written in "asexual" when asked about their sexual orientation. 3) While asexuals reported fewer sexual partners on average, this difference was not statistically significant. 4) The study provides preliminary evidence that asexuality may be characterized more by low sexual desire and excitation rather than
