This document summarizes several projects by Heren 5 architects and discusses ways residents can be involved in the design process. It describes three housing renovation projects in the Netherlands where residents provided input: Vissershop focused on regenerating 214 homes while allowing residents to return; Ittersumerlanden transformed 161 homes to improve livability without rent increases; and Gerenstein gave a new identity to a neighborhood in Amsterdam. It also discusses two social studies, including how common spaces can build community and how the standard Dutch apartment impacts families.
