Bespoke Wood Interiors | Made to measure
Creator of fine superior wood, Oscar Ono takes the word "tailor-made" to another level through products that perfectly match various kinds of decors, be they classic or contemporary. Offering a wide variety of textures, colors, species and sizes adapted to each creation, Oscar Ono aims at turning design requirements and ideas into unique and customized projects. It is with great pleasure that we give you a glimpse of some past projects.
The work of John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects (JFAK.net) begins with the premise that architecture has the power to positively transform individual and collective lives, as well as the responsibility to both sustain and improve the overall environment.
Alice Kimm (B.A. Cornell, M.Arch Harvard)
was born in Chicago and spent her high
school years in Seoul, Korea. Her work has been recognized with a Fulbright Scholarship, a National AIA award, multiple regional AIA awards including two Los Angeles AIA Decade Awards. She
is currently a Visiting Associate Professor
of Architecture at the University of
Southern California. See http://World-Architecture.com and the Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary World Architecture.
With the pace of business as fast as it is, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Demands and deadlines stack up quickly and the way forward gets quickly obscured. It can be paralyzing.
In those moments, a new perspective can feel like a breath of fresh air, which is why we created this guidebook to help you envision clear business goals with an architected approach.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

5. The concept of my Diploma Project is to
reactivate Rosengård, an immigrant
ghetto in Southern Sweden, through
the put to work of the skills of its in-habitants:
from the guy who mends clo-thes
and shoes, to the old ladies who
can cook excellent stews on weekend
nights, the value of human talent is
the prime matter of development.
The plan is to make funds available in
a shared scheme: the European Union
+ Swedish Government as funders and
the people of Rosengård as operators.
Very often we deal with unfavoured
peoples in a gift-manner: we give them
things for free (bonuses, construction
materials, etc.) and expect these aid to
aliviate the problem, but at the same
time, we alienate the people we are
supposed to help, by not making them
a helpful part of the solution.
The idea is to help the neighbors help
themselves.

topographic, structural and mechanic information as well as legal requirements and rel-evant
standards (for example: needed for the kindergarden or the dentist’s offi ce), and
considering the changes that happen along the constructive process. The supervising
engineer expressed satisfaction at the quality of my work, which was my fi rst profes-sional
experience carried out completely in the German language.

16. CLIMBING HALL
IN BIELEFELD
Transformation of an industrial building into a climbing hall
Location: Bielefeld-Senne, Germany
Area: 1,500sq m
Function: 650 sq m of bouldering walls, cafeteria and dressing rooms
17. And there was bouldering...
This project is about renovating a
1960’s industrial building to convert
it into a bouldering centre, which
allows to climb without safety mea-sures
up to 5m high.
The main element of our interven-tion
was the Black Box, a rectangu-lar
snack bar / visitor centre made
of black pine wood. Around the box
there is a wooden deck which serves
as an “outdoor” coffee shop, and of-fers
a place for social contact and to
watch the competition walls.
I took part actively in different stages
of the project: design, construction
drawing, project supervision and
communication with the client, engi-neers
and contractors.
18. The entrance.
My sketch shows our fi rst ideas for the entrance
of the building: with minimal elements (lwooden
planks and lighting) we tried to make a notori-ous
corner for the old industrial building. To the
right you can see the slide doors of shelves
used for storage. The 120cm wide space allows
for easy evacuation in case of fi re.
The Bench
This sketch shows the fi rst idea for a sitting
element, which should also be integral part of
the Black Box. The bench can be used from the
inside (as an extension of the Black Box) and
outside: you can sit there, change your shoes or
get some rest with friends!
19. Inside the Black Box. Contrary to its ouside, the inside of the box offers a
peaceful environment with view to the Alps.
20. The competition wall.
The wooden seat allows to witness the climbing comfortably while you sip a coffee or just take a break.
