An introduction to the important metrics and construction technologies behind the classical Greek Temple. The Greeks were a colonizing people, and built temples throughout the Mediterranean region wherever they settled. To do this, they required a set of standards, rules, and planning guides to ensure the integrity and proprietary of their temples, considered the domicile of the gods on Earth. These rules produced a synthesis of beauty, proportion, and practicality that characterizes classical Greek architecture, and which continues to inform culture and society today.

Ever growing amman, jordan_urban expansion social polarisation and contempora...Dania Abdel-aziz
Amman the primate capital city of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan currently has a population in excess
of 2 million, but in 1924 it consisted of little more than a collection of dwellings and some 2000–3000
inhabitants. The present paper sets out to document and explain the phenomenal expansion of ‘‘evergrowing
Amman’’. The physical geography of the urban region and the early growth of the city are
considered at the outset and this leads directly to consideration of the highly polarised social structuring
that characterises contemporary Amman. In doing this, original data derived from the recent Greater
Amman Municipality’s Geographical Information System are presented. In this respect, the essential
modernity of the city is exemplified. The employment and industrial bases of the city and a range of
pressing contemporary issues are then considered, including transport and congestion, the provision of
urban water under conditions of water stress and privatisation, and urban and regional development
planning for the city. The paper concludes by emphasizing the growing regional and international
geopolitical salience of the city of Amman at the start of the 21st century.
The Masjid-e-Jehan Numa, commonly known as the Jama Masjid of Delhi, is one of the largest mosques in India.
It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1650 and 1656 at a cost of one million rupees, and was inaugurated by Imam Syed Abdul Ghafoor Shah Bukhari from Bukhara.
The courtyard can accommodate more than 25000 people.
The architectural plan of Badshahi Masjid, built by Shah Jahan's son Aurangzeb at Lahore is similar to the Jama Masjid.
Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built the Jama Masjid between 1650 and 1657. It was constructed by more than 5000 workers. It was originally called 'Masjid e Jahan Numa', meaning 'mosque commanding the view of the world'. The construction was done under the supervision of Saadullah Khan, wazir (or prime minister) during Shah Jahan's reign. The cost of the construction at the time was one million Rupees.[1] Shah Jahan also built the Taj Mahal, at Agra and the Red Fort in Old Delhi, which stands opposite the Jama Masjid.

Medieval communes in the European Middle Ages had sworn allegiances of mutual defense (both physical defense and of traditional freedoms) among the citizens of a town or city. These took many forms and varied widely in organization and makeup.
Communes were first recorded in the late 11th and early 12th centuries, thereafter becoming a widespread phenomenon. They had greater development in central-northern Italy, where they became city-states based on partial democracy. At the same time in Germany they became free cities, independent from local nobility.
