This document discusses the development of a data management platform to improve the reproducibility of microscopy experiments. The platform aims to safekeep experimental data, allow sharing of data between research groups, and support reuse of data. It describes challenges to reproducibility and factors that influence it. The current prototype extends an existing open-source data management system to document experimental methods and parameters. Preliminary results suggest it facilitates organization and validation of scientific data. Future work includes adding more attributes, representing data in a machine-readable format, and integrating with workflow engines.
The Business Service Center (BSC) was created to efficiently deliver exceptional services to UNT System institutions. It consolidated many business functions from the campuses. As of September 2011, the BSC provided 176 services, employing 132 staff who previously worked across campuses. Key services included payroll, human resources, purchasing and payments. The BSC aimed to treat customers as partners through regular communication, process improvements and training. Immediate next steps were finalizing the BSC location and staff transfer, and developing training for the new service model.
