2. Sri Ramana Maharshi
Sri Ramana Maharishi (January 9, 1879 – April
14, 1950), born Venkataraman Iyer, was a Hindu
spiritual master ("jnani"). He was born to a
Tamil-speaking Brahmin family in Tiruchuzhi, Tamil
Nadu. After experiencing at age 16 what he later
described as liberation (moksha), he left home for
Arunachala, a mountain considered sacred by
Hindus. He lived at the mountain for the rest of his
life. Although born a Brahmin, he declared himself
an "Atiasrami", a Sastraic state of non-attachment
to anything in life and beyond all caste restrictions.
The ashram that grew around him, Sri Ramana
Ashram, is situated at the foothill of Arunchala, to
the west to the pilgrimage town of
Tiruvannamalai.( Wikipedia )

3. On Happiness
Happiness is
your nature.
It is not wrong
to desire it.
What is wrong
is seeking it
outside when it
is inside.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
4. How to be Happy
Nearly all mankind is
more or less unhappy
because nearly all do
not know the true Self.
Real happiness abides
in Self-knowledge
alone.
All else is fleeting.
To know one's Self is
to be blissful always.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
5. Reforming Self
The Remedy for Many ills in Life
Wanting to reform
the world without
discovering one's
true self is like
trying to cover the
world with leather
to avoid the pain
of walking on
stones and thorns.
It is much simpler
to wear shoes
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
6. What is Required in
our Life
Nobody doubts
that he
exists, though he
may doubt the
existence of God.
If he finds out the
truth about
himself and
discovers his own
source, this is all
that is required.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
7. Reality of Life – Give up
EGO
Reality is simply
the loss of ego.
Destroy the ego by
seeking its
identity. Because
the ego is no
entity it will
automatically
vanish and reality
will shine forth by
itself.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
8. What is the Reality
There is no greater mystery than this, that
we keep seeking reality though in fact we
are reality. We think that there is
something hiding reality and that this
must be destroyed before reality is
gained.
How ridiculous! A day will dawn when
you will laugh at all your past efforts.
That which will be the day you laugh is
also here and now.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
9. I exist in Self – Realise the
Truth
I exist' is the only permanent self-evident
experience of everyone. Nothing else is
so self-evident as 'I am'. What people call
self-evident, that is, the experience they
get through the senses, is far from self-
evident. The Self alone is that. So to do
self-enquiry and be that 'I am' is the only
thing to do. 'I am' is reality. I am this or
that is unreal. 'I am' is truth, another
name for Self.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
10. GOD in Everyone
Heart" is merely
another name for the
Supreme
Spirit, because He is in
all hearts.
The entire Universe is
condensed in the
body, and the entire
body in the Heart.
Thus the Heart is the
nucleus of the whole
Universe

11. Strong Mind Can
MeditateMeditation
depends upon
the strength of
mind. It must
be unceasing
even when one
is engaged in
work. Particular
time for it is
meant for
novices.Dr.T.V.Rao MD
12. Our Senses guide the
Mind- Try to Control it
The world is nothing
more than an
embodiment of the
objects perceived by
the five sense-organs.
Since, through these
five sense-organs, a
single mind perceives
the world, the world is
nothing but the mind.
Apart from the mind
can there be a world?
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
13. Find Peace in Self
You and I are the
same.
What I have done is
surely possible for
all.
You are the Self
now and can never
be anything else.
Throw your worries
to the wind, turn
within and find
Peace.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
14. Realise the GOD through
Your Mind
The Divine gives
light to the mind
and shines within
it. Except by
turning the mind
inward and fixing
it in the
Divine, there is no
other way to know
Him through the
mind.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
15. The Grace of the Guru
liberates
Liberation is not
anywhere outside you.
It is only within. If a
man is anxious for
deliverance, the
internal Guru (Master)
pulls him in and the
external Guru pushes
him into the Self. This
is the grace of the
Guru.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
16. Realise yourself –
Serve the World
Your own
Self-
Realization
is the
greatest
service you
can render
the world.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
17. Turn your Mind to Self
Can Solve Many problems
Turn the mind
inward and cease
thinking of
yourself as the
body; thereby you
will come to know
that the self is
ever happy.
Neither grief nor
misery is
experienced in this
state.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
18. Books alone cannot Make
you realize ….
The self
cannot be
found in
books. You
have to find it
for
yourself, withi
n yourself.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
19. The Divinity has no
Duality
You can never find
mind through the
mind. Go beyond
it, and find it non-
existent.
The self is pure
knowledge, pure
delight where
there is no duality.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
20. We are Reaping our
own Actions
Pain or pleasure is the result of past
Karma and not of the present Karma. Pain
and pleasure alternate with each other.
One must suffer or enjoy them patiently
without being carried away by them. One
must always try to hold on to the Self.
When one is active one should not care for
the results and must not be swayed by the
pain or pleasure met with occasionally. He
who is indifferent to pain or pleasure
can alone be happy.
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
21. What is I
The normal self is
the mind. The
mind is with
limitations. But
pure
Consciousness is
beyond
limitations, and is
reached by
investigation into
the I
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
22. Happiness is your Nature
Learn to be Happy
That which is called
happiness is only the
nature of Self; Self is
not other than perfect
happiness. That which
is called happiness
alone exists. Knowing
that fact and abiding
in the state of Self,
enjoy bliss eternally
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
23. One Day you have to
Surrender Everything
Whatever path
you go, you will
have to lose
yourself in the
one. Surrender
is complete only
when you reach
the stage `Thou
art all' and `Thy
will be done
Dr.T.V.Rao MD
24. Do the Action without
Desire
Whatever is done
lovingly, with
righteous purity
and with peace of
mind, is a good
action. Everything
which is done with
the stain of desire
and with agitation
filling the mind is
classified as a bad
action.
