Introduction
There is four main core concern in managing
people in the tech world or in software companies.
(1) Staff selection
(2) Staff development
(3) Staff motivation
(4) And continued well-being of staff.
#Here is some step that will come when some project is going on and you
need to manage people to get better productivity.
Step 1:-Some objectives can address health and safety during the project
Step 2:- Although the Project leader might have little control over the
organizational structure, they need to be aware of its implications
step 3:- The scope and nature of activities can be set in a way that will
enhance staff motivation
step 4:- For Project success, many problems might happen if you are not
selecting the right staff for that project.
step 5:- The qualities of individual members of staff should be taken into
account when we assign staff to any project.
Understanding
behaviour
A. The development of the system is usually based on user
requirements that can be checked in more than one way, the end
result is a system that works perfectly consistent way.
B. The developers who produce such a system will have a tendency
to see things in terms of deterministic (All Overview ) where once a
sequence of inputs is known, the outputs can be predicted with
some certainty.
* There are two approaches to understanding the behaviour:
(1)Positivist approach
(2)Interpretivist approach
(1) Positivist approach :
a) Positivist approach is based on the development of a system.
b) In the Positivist approach tends to be objective and experienceable
c) And Seeks causes for behaviour
d) Conduct studies that can be generalized (easy to use for every age
group) to larger populations
(2)Interpretivist Approach:
a. This approach or perception asks this type of questions
^How are software engineers defined?
^How is success defined?
^Who customize and install package software cover the role of ICT
business analyst.
b . Interpretivist Approach is more qualitative (want more quality)
c. This approach is based on smaller samples
d. This approach views each consumption situation as unique and non-
predictive. (consumption probability, what type of bugs)
e. This approach looks for a common pattern across consumption
situations. (insta reel ex.)
* The 2 viewpoints (positivist and interpretivist ) are both valid and
useful in managing the people in software fields.
1. Frederick Taylor is one of our friend who attempted to analyses the
most productive way of doing manual tasks.
2. Tyalor had three basic objectives:
a) To select the best people for the job.
b) To instruct them in the best methods.
c) To give incentives in the form of higher qality work to the best workers.
3. The Conditions under which the staff worked also affect productivity.
4. Organizational behaviour researchers discoverd that the state of minds
of he people influenced productivity.
5. The management action of motivating human beings in the
organization accroding to Douglas McGregor, involves certain
assumptions, generalization and hypothgeses realting to human
behaviour and human nature.
Organizational Behaviour : A Background
Selecting the Right person For the job
1. Taylor stressed the need for the right person for the job.
2. There is some factors such as software tools and methodologies can
affect programming productivity.
3. The biggest difference in software development performance is
between individuals.
* Recruitment process
1. Recruitment is often an organizational responsibility: The person
recruited might work in many different parts of the organization.
2.The eligible candidate needs a curriculum vitae (CV) which shows, for
example, the 'right number of years in some previous post and the 'right'
paper qualifications.
Selecting the Right person For the job
a) Cretate ajob holder profile
Advice is often needed as there could be legal implications in an
official
Document.
Formally or informally the requirements of the job should be
documented and
agreed.
b) Create a job holder profile
It is used to construct a profile of the person needed to carry out the
job.
The qualities, qualification, eduaction and experience requried is listed.
c) Obtain Application
By providing salary, location, job scope, and any required
qualifications, applicants will be narrowed down to more realistic
candidates.
An advertisement should be placed, either within the organization in
the trade
d) Examine CV's
These should be read carefully and compared to the job holder profile
e) Interviews
Selection techniques include aptitude tests, personality tests and the
examination of sample of previous work.
An interview might be of a technical nature where the practical
expertise of the candidate will check.
Instruction in the best methods
1. When new members of the team are recruited, the team leader will
need to plan their initiation(installing and emmbeding in team) into
the team very carefully.
2. The team leader should be aware of the need to assess continually
the training needs of their team members.
3. Where money is tight, alternative sources of training should be
considered but training should not be Rejected(Cancelled).
4. It could just be a team member finding out about a new software
tool and then demonstration it to colleagues.
Motivation
Motivation is the process that initiates, guides, and maintains goal-
oriented behaviors.
Motivation involves the biological, emotional, social, and cognitive
forces that activate behavior.
In everyday usage, the term "motivation" is frequently used to
describe why a person does something.
It is the driving force behind human actions.
Understanding Motivation can:
Help improve the efficiency of people as they work toward goals
Help people take action.
Encourage people to engage in health-oriented behaviors
Help people avoid unhealthy or maladaptive behaviors such as
risk-taking and addiction.
Help people feel more in control of their lives
Improve overall well-being and happiness
