Editor's Notes
See the Guidelines for Examiner Training for more details.
In summary, Writing Examiners will need to know:
The format of the test
Which assessment scales are used for each part
How to assess candidatesā performance in the test.
N.B. What you do today will be mirrored in the F2F training session. For both you as trainers, and the Writing examiners you will be training, the āMarks Collectionā activity will take place after the training day and will be done online.
See the Guidelines for Examiner Training for more details.
You are free to adapt the suggested timetable to suit your own situation, as long as everything on the agenda is covered. You should provide an agenda to all your trainees prior to the session. You may also wish to ask the trainees to do some pre-training activities in advance.
Tip: Preparation is key when running a Writing Examiner training session. It is vital that you are familiar with all the sample scripts you are using and that you have read and annotated the commentaries with your own observations of specific areas to highlight.
Make sure that you have access to everything you need for the session (scripts, commentaries, handouts etc.) and have made copies of everything the trainees will need. All the details are provided in the Training Guidelines booklet.
