3. Computer Color Matching System
Color matching and color control have become an integral part of
dyeing industry.
CCMS was commercially introduced in1973. Now CCMS is
developing by different manufacturers. Among all of them DATA
COLOR is best in this regard.
Computer Color Matching System(CCMS) predict very close
recipe for any shade with advanced spectrophotometer and color
Software.
4. Required belongings for CCMS:
1) Color measurement instrument
2) Reflectance from a mixture of dyes or pigments
applied in a specific way.
3) Optical model of vision to judge the closeness of
color matching.
[L*,a*,b* and ΔE values]
4)Personal computer and printer for output.
5. The following works can be
done by using CCMS:
1.Color match prediction.
2.Color difference calculation.
3.Determine metamerism.
4.Pass/Fail option.
5.Color fastness rating.
6.Cost Comparison.
7.Strength evaluation of dyes.
8.Whiteness indices.
9.Reflectance curve and K/S curve.
10.Production of Shade library.
11.Color strength
6. Advantages of CCMS:
1) Customers get exact required shade (with the knowledge of
metamerism).
2) Often supplies a choice of 10-20 formulations (depends on self
shade database) that will match the color.
3) 30-300 times faster at achieving match with the help of a
computer than by eye alone.
4) Limited range of stock color is needed.
5) Give extremely accurate recipe calculations in a very short time.
6) If the cost of dyes and chemicals are given in computer as input it
can show the cost of dyeing for every recipe.
7) It reduces the no of laboratory trials for shade matching.
8) Reduced addition rate and shortest processing time and addition
number is reduced, fabric experiences gentle treatment.
8. Relation between K/S value and dye concentration
The Basic information required for the color match prediction is the relationship between
Reflected of the dyes materials (K/S Value) concentration of the dye staff.
Kubelka-Munk equation gives a mathematically expression which gives the desired liner
Relationship,
K/S=(1-R)2/2R
WHERE, R= Reflectance, K=Absorbsion, S= Scattering Co-efficent
