To manage the extension
settings please go to admin
panel -> System ->
Configuration -> Special
Promotions.
Set this option to ‘Yes’, if you‘d like
coupons and shopping cart price rules
not to be applied to the products with
special price.
NOTE: Items with special prices from
Catalog Price Rules will be skipped as
well.

Put ‘Yes’ to show the customers the list
of all discounts they get with each
order (e.g. if several discount rules are
applied to an order, they will see how
much discount they got with each rule).
Switch to ‘Yes’ if you want to
show which discount is applied to
which product (e.g. Discount 1:
phone , -$50, Discount 2: camera,
-$120, etc.).

At the ‘Rule Information tab
please specify the rule name,
status, websites, customer
groups, for which the rule is
intended and all the
information you may need.
To create offers based on cheapest and/or most expensive
products, please create corresponding shopping cart price
rule. For this go to admin panel > Promotions > Shopping
Cart Price Rules and click ‘Add New Rule’ button.

You can use all standard Magento
conditions with the new actions. If you
would like to provide for free or discount
items only from a certain category or of a
particular brand, etc, please indicate the
category, brand, other conditions here.
Choose ‘The Cheapest’
action if you ‘d like to
create a rule for cheapest
products or ‘The Most
Expensive’ for most
expensive ones. You can
create as many rules with
these actions as needed.

Use ‘Discount amount’ field to indicate
discount percent for the cheapest (or most
expensive) product. You can either leave it
empty or type in 100 to give the cheapest (or
the most expensive) item for free.
Use ‘Maximum Qty Discount
is Applied To’ field to
indicate maximum number
of items for which the
discount should apply. Leave
it blank for no limitations.
Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy X)’
field to specify how many products
customers need to buy for the rule
to take effect. If you indicate 3 like
here, that means that from every 3
items purchased customers will get
50% off for the most expensive one.
If you leave ‘0’ (zero), customers
will get only 1 free item per order (if
conditions are met).
This rule may be advertised as ‘Buy 3 and get the most expensive product for half
the price, buy 6 - get 2 most expensive for half the price’. Please note that customers
will get discount for the items from the categories with ids 8 and 12 only and they
will never get discount for more than 2 items as the rule has ‘Maximum qty the
discount applied to’ set to 2. Please see the next page for front end example.

Please see the example of the
rule we’ve created above.
We have three items in the cart and subtotal is over
500. The most expensive product is Sony Notebook,
however it doesn’t belong to ‘Cell phones’ or
‘Cameras’ category, therefore the 50% discount is
applied to the most expensive item from one of these
categories – Olympus camera.

‘Each N-th with Discount’ action. With
this action you can create promotions like
‘each second (third, fourth, etc) camera
for 50% off (30% off or for free)’.
Use ‘Discount Amount’ field
to indicate the discount
size. Either leave ‘0’ (zero)
or type ‘100’ to give 100%
discount.
Use ‘Discount Qty Step
(Buy X)’ field to indicate
the discount step. If you
indicate ‘2’ like here, it
means that each second
item, that meets the rule
conditions, will go with
50% discount.
In this case I indicated that the rule
should apply only to products from
‘Cameras’, ‘Accessories’ and ‘Digital
Cameras’ categories.

The calculation for ‘Each N-th with Discount’ action works this way:
1. All items that meet the rule are counted and sorted by price from highest to
lowest. Let’s say you have three items that meet the rule. They cost $50, $70
and $30. The extension will create a list with such order: $70, $50, $30.
2. After that each n-th product from the list is discounted (or made free). So if
the rule is set as each second for 50% off, in our case the $50 product will
discounted by 50%.
As you can see we have two
cameras in the cart and the second
camera goes with 50% discount,
according to the price rule.
Here’s the example of application
of the rule we’ve created above.

4. ‘Each N-th with Fixed Discount’ action
‘Each N-th with Fixed Discount’ action.
With this action you can create
promotions like ‘each second (third,
fourth, etc) camera $50 (100, 200, etc.)
off ’.
Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy
X)’ field to indicate the
discount step. If you indicate
‘3’ like here, it means that
each third item, that meets
the rule conditions, will go
with $70 discount.

amount that customers can
receive while using a

The calculation for ‘Each N-th with Discount’ action works this way:
1. All items that meet the rule are counted and sorted by price from highest to

‘Each N-th for Fixed Price’ action. The action lets you discount price of
products to a fixed value (considering that the item meets the conditions
of the price rule). For example, if you have promotion ‘all contact lenses
for $20’ or ‘each second pair of jeans for $30’, you can create such
promotions using this action.Use ‘Discount Amount’ field to
indicate the fixed price. If you
indicate ’200’ here, it means
that price of the items, that
meet the rule conditions, will
be $200.
Please use this option to
specify maximal number of
items to which the discount
should be applied in one
order.
In this case we indicated that the
rule should apply only to products
from ‘Cameras’, ‘Accessories’ and
‘Digital Cameras’ categories.

frequency for ‘Each’. If you
indicate 1 like here, the rule
will be applied to each item
that meets the rule
conditions. If you specify 2,

is $479.99, which means that price of
each camera after discount is $200.

the promoted groups of

This action allows creating promotions
like “Get group of special items for 150$”.
Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy
X)’ to specify the ‘N’ number
- how many products a
customer should buy to get a
fixed price.
Use conditions section of the ‘Actions’ tab to specify group for special
items by which the discount is triggered. In this case we indicated that
group of special items should be from categories with ID 4, 16, 17
(Shirts, Men's Shoes, Women's Shoes).

As you can see there are 4 items
in the cart. Two items from
category ‘Shirts’, one form
category ‘Men’s shoes’ and one
from category ‘women’s shoes’.
Subtotal for the whole order is
312.94$, but according to the
actions which were created in
previous step, we have a fixed
price $150 for all 4 items.

Use this option to indicate
the discount amount for the
particular set of items.
7. ‘Each group of N with percent discount’ action
This action allows creating
promotions like “Get a group of
special items with 10% off.
Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy
X)’ to specify the ‘N’ number.
Here we specified ‘5’, which
means that the customer
have to buy 5 products to get
10% discount on each of
them.
Use conditions section of the ‘Actions’ tab to specify group for special
items by which the discount is triggered. In this case we indicated that
group of special items should be from categories with ID 4, 16, 17
(Shirts, Men's Shoes, Women's Shoes).

As you can see there are 5 items
in the cart. Two items from
category ‘Shirts’, one form
category ‘Men’s shoes’ and two
from category ‘women’s shoes’.

20% discount’. Below we’ve created this rule.
Use ‘Discount Amount’ field to

(these are Y items as well).
If you specify both categories
and SKUs like here, the discount
will be applied to both

applied in one order.
Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy X)’ setting to
indicate the number of ‘X’ items. If you
specify 3 like here, it means that a customer
will have to buy 3 ‘X’ items to get 20%
discount for one ‘Y’ item.
Note: if you specify 0 (zero) in this field then
a client will get the discount only for one of
the several ‘Y’ items in the cart.
Use conditions section of the ‘Actions’ tab to specify ‘X’ items, by
which the discount is triggered. In this case we indicated that ‘X’
items should be from the category with ID 8 (Cell Phones). Please
be aware that ‘X’ items and ‘Y’ items should not meet each other
conditions.
Here you can indicate to

‘Buy X Get Y with Fixed Discount’ action. You can
create promotions like ‘buy 3 phones and get a
camera $50 off’.Use ‘Discount Amount’ field to
indicate the discount amount.
Use ‘Promo Categories’
setting to indicate to
which categories the
discounted items (Y
items) should belong.
Also you can specify SKUs of
the individual products to
which the discount should
apply (these are Y items as
well). If you specify both
categories and SKUs like here,
the discount will apply to both
individual items and to
products from the categories.

triggered. In this case we indicated that ‘X’ items

Please be aware that ‘X’ items and ‘Y’ items can’t
be the same products.

The only difference of ‘Buy X Get Y for Fixed Price’ action from ‘Buy X
Get Y with Discount’ action is that instead of percent discount
products are discounted to a fixed amount. By this rule if a customer
buys three phones, he or she can buy any camera for just $200.
Use ‘Discount Amount’ field
to indicate the amount to
which ‘Y’ products should
be discounted. If you specify
200 like here, the ‘Y’
products will cost 200 after
the discount rule gets
applied.
10. ‘Buy X Get Y for Fixed Price’ action
IMPORTANT. Please be
aware that ‘Buy X Get Y for
Fixed Price’ and ‘Buy X Get Y
with Discount’ actions work
only with simple and
configurable products.

11. ‘All products after N with Percent Discount’ action
‘All products after N with Discount’ action works
on analogy with ‘All products after N for Fixed
Price’. But in this case customers get percent
discount instead of fixed price.
With this setup customers
have to buy 3 items for the
full price to get 20%
discount for the
additional items. The
quantity of additional
item is limited; in our case
a customer can buy no
more than 2 products
with 20% discount.

‘All products after N with Fixed Discount’ action
works on analogy with ‘All products after N with
Percent Discount’. Only in this case customers get
fixed discount amount (e.g. $70) instead of percent
discount like 30%.

With this action you can create promotions like

additional product for $100’. Or ‘Buy 5 shirts for
full price and get each additional one for $20’

number. Here we specified
‘4’, which means that the
customer will buy 4 most
expensive products for full
price and all additional
products for the fixed price
$100.

In configuration section of the extension you can
enable display of discount breakdown. So
customers will be able to see what discounts they
are getting with each particular order. Also if you
enable display of products in the breakdown,
customers will see which products are discounted.
Rule labels (filled in at the ‘Labels’ tab of the
shopping cart price rule in admin panel) are
displayed in this block. In this case ‘Buy any phone
for $100’ and ‘each 2nd camera for 50%’ are labels
of the corresponding rules.

Rules with new discount actions work for orders in
admin panel as well.
As you can see on this screenshot, ‘Buy any phone
for $100’ and ‘each 2nd camera for 50%’ rules got
applied correctly for order placed via admin panel.

16. ‘Get $Y discount for each $X spent’ action
This action allows creating promotions like “Get a
$50 discount for each $300 spent”.
Use ‘Discount Amount’ field
to set up a discount which a
customer will have for each
total spent.
Use ‘Discount Qty Step
(Buy X)’ to specify the ‘X’
number. Here we
specified ‘300’, which
means that the customer
will get a $50 discount for
each $300 spent.

You can specify either complete
email or just email domain if you
want all customers with certain
email domain to receive a discount
(in such case you will need to use
‘contains’ operator instead of ‘is’).
You can specify similar masks for
first name and last name.
The extension adds a number of new
conditions to the ‘Conditions’ tab:
- Based on customers’ personal data such
as email, first name, last name, date of
birth, gender and ID.
- Based on customers’ order history,
such as number of completed orders
and total amount previously spent at
the store.
- Orders sub selection to define average
order value, total sales amount and
number of placed orders with
additional condition based on status of
order (complete, etc.) and period
after order was placed.

With ‘Orders Subselection’ you can
adjust conditions based on order
value and amount more accurately.
You can define:
- Average order value
- Total sales amount
- Number of placed orders
For each of these conditions you can define additional conditions:
- Order status (cancelled, complete, etc.)
- Period after order was placed

How it works?
Let’s say the customer created a number of orders which
were later cancelled. With these functionality it’s easy to
count only complete orders to give a discount for a
customer.

With the extension you get several new columns at the
shopping cart price rules grid (admin panel -> Promotions ->
Shopping Cart Price Rules): Action (shows the action chosen
for the rule), Discount (shows the discount amount for the
rule), Stop (whether to stop rules processing after this rule).
It adds ‘Actions’ dropdown to the
grid. You can apply the actions
both to single and to multiple
rules right on the grid (we’ll
explain in more details further
on).
Also there’s new ‘Duplicate’ action, with the help of
which you can duplicate individual rules. It can be
very useful when you have several similar rules, this
way you will use the first rule as a template, which
will save you a lot of time with complex rules.

‘Activate’ action lets you activate
any number of price rules.
Just pick the rules and click
‘Submit’ button next to the
‘Actions’ dropdown.
‘Deactivate’ action on the opposite enables
you to deactivate shopping cart price rule.
To make it work please take the same steps
as with the ‘Activate’ action.

‘Top Priority’ action lets you raise priority of
any price rule (or a number of rules) to the
top. If you had some rules with 0 (zero)
priority before applying the action, these
rules would get downgraded.
‘Lowest Priority’ action vice versa
will help you quickly downgrade
rules to the lowest priority.

‘Delete’ action lets you get rid of
unnecessary price rules. It can be used
for quick deleting of test/demo rules ,

Set this option to ‘Yes’, if you‘d like coupons and shopping cart price rules not to be applied to the products with special price. NOTE: Items with special prices from Catalog Price Rules will be skipped as well. Support: http://amasty.com/contacts/ Put ‘Yes’ to show the customers the list of all discounts they get with each order (e.g. if several discount rules are applied to an order, they will see how much discount they got with each rule). Switch to ‘Yes’ if you want to show which discount is applied to which product (e.g. Discount 1: phone , -$50, Discount 2: camera, -$120, etc.). 1. To create offers based on cheapest and/or most expensive products, please create corresponding shopping cart price rule. If you would like to provide for free or discount items only from a certain category or of a particular brand, etc, please indicate the category, brand, other conditions here. Choose ‘The Cheapest’ action if you ‘d like to create a rule for cheapest products or ‘The Most Expensive’ for most expensive ones. You can create as many rules with these actions as needed. 2. ‘The Cheapest’ and ‘The Most Expensive’ actions User Guide: Special Promotions Pro
  • 8. Page 8 Support: http://amasty.com/contacts/ Use ‘Discount amount’ field to indicate discount percent for the cheapest (or most expensive) product. You can either leave it empty or type in 100 to give the cheapest (or the most expensive) item for free. Use ‘Maximum Qty Discount is Applied To’ field to indicate maximum number of items for which the discount should apply. Leave it blank for no limitations. Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy X)’ field to specify how many products customers need to buy for the rule to take effect. If you indicate 3 like here, that means that from every 3 items purchased customers will get 50% off for the most expensive one. If you leave ‘0’ (zero), customers will get only 1 free item per order (if conditions are met). This rule may be advertised as ‘Buy 3 and get the most expensive product for half the price, buy 6 - get 2 most expensive for half the price’. Please note that customers will get discount for the items from the categories with ids 8 and 12 only and they will never get discount for more than 2 items as the rule has ‘Maximum qty the discount applied to’ set to 2. The most expensive product is Sony Notebook, however it doesn’t belong to ‘Cell phones’ or ‘Cameras’ category, therefore the 50% discount is applied to the most expensive item from one of these categories – Olympus camera. 2. ‘The Cheapest’ and ‘The Most Expensive’ actions User Guide: Special Promotions Pro

With this action you can create promotions like ‘each second (third, fourth, etc) camera for 50% off (30% off or for free)’. Use ‘Discount Amount’ field to indicate the discount size. Either leave ‘0’ (zero) or type ‘100’ to give 100% discount. Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy X)’ field to indicate the discount step. If you indicate ‘2’ like here, it means that each second item, that meets the rule conditions, will go with 50% discount. In this case I indicated that the rule should apply only to products from ‘Cameras’, ‘Accessories’ and ‘Digital Cameras’ categories. 3. ‘Each N-th with Percent Discount’ action User Guide: Special Promotions Pro

All items that meet the rule are counted and sorted by price from highest to lowest. Let’s say you have three items that meet the rule. They cost $50, $70 and $30. The extension will create a list with such order: $70, $50, $30. 2. After that each n-th product from the list is discounted (or made free). So if the rule is set as each second for 50% off, in our case the $50 product will discounted by 50%. As you can see we have two cameras in the cart and the second camera goes with 50% discount, according to the price rule. Here’s the example of application of the rule we’ve created above. 3. ‘Each N-th with Percent Discount’ action User Guide: Special Promotions Pro

With this action you can create promotions like ‘each second (third, fourth, etc) camera $50 (100, 200, etc.) off ’. Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy X)’ field to indicate the discount step. If you indicate ‘3’ like here, it means that each third item, that meets the rule conditions, will go with $70 discount. User Guide: Special Promotions Pro Use ‘Discount Amount’ field to indicate the discount size. I defined $70 off for my case. Use this field to limit discount amount that customers can receive while using a promotion. Admin user can define what price will be chosen as a discount base for the action - a special price, the price after previous discounts or the original item price.

The action lets you discount price of products to a fixed value (considering that the item meets the conditions of the price rule). For example, if you have promotion ‘all contact lenses for $20’ or ‘each second pair of jeans for $30’, you can create such promotions using this action.Use ‘Discount Amount’ field to indicate the fixed price. If you indicate ’200’ here, it means that price of the items, that meet the rule conditions, will be $200. Please use this option to specify maximal number of items to which the discount should be applied in one order. In this case we indicated that the rule should apply only to products from ‘Cameras’, ‘Accessories’ and ‘Digital Cameras’ categories. Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy X)’ setting to indicate frequency for ‘Each’. If you indicate 1 like here, the rule will be applied to each item that meets the rule conditions. Use ‘Discount Qty Step (Buy X)’ to specify the ‘N’ number - how many products a customer should buy to get a fixed price. Use conditions section of the ‘Actions’ tab to specify group for special items by which the discount is triggered.
