This document summarizes the development of a website to help local governments in New South Wales, Australia integrate ageing considerations into their community strategic planning processes. It describes how the new planning system requires councils to take an integrated, long-term approach. It is meant to help councils incorporate ageing-related goals into their mandatory 10-year community strategic plans to make their communities more livable for residents of all ages.

2012 Critical Issues Summit Energy Panel, Part II

Clinton climate initiative cci
This project aims to help rural communities in Kenya and Tanzania participate in and benefit from carbon markets by developing carbon accounting systems and demonstration projects. Key activities include assisting the governments with Measurement, Reporting and Verification systems, developing a REDD+ project in Tanzania, and completing the design of a reforestation project in Kenya that will reforest 100 hectares and submit a Project Design Document for validation. Expected outcomes are advancing MRV systems in both countries, giving communities legal ownership of a forest in Tanzania, validating the Kenyan project under the Voluntary Carbon Standard, and providing a model for reforestation.
Local government – in 5 years time
Cllr Mike Jones presented on the challenges facing local governments in the next 5 years, including an aging population, meeting housing and infrastructure needs, and responding to rising public expectations. Key points include:
- Local governments will see their revenue support grant cut by 40% over 5 years, increasing reliance on sources like business rates and housing growth incentives.
- Devolution of powers from central government to local areas offers economic, political and social benefits but progress has been mainly through individual city and region deals.
- Services will need to be delivered more efficiently through shared services, community budgets, and better use of public land.

2) Under the project, city hall employees collected coins that were then used to fund a flea market, with proceeds donated to support education in Cambodia. The project aims to raise awareness of the value of reusable goods and respect for other cultures.
3) The expected outcomes are to fulfill Korea's social responsibility following the war, deliver hope and dreams to Cambodia, encourage local participation in recycling and volunteering, and help cultivate global citizens to promote education for sustainable development and prosperity around the world.

The presentation discusses Massachusetts' Accelerated Energy Program which manages energy efficiency and renewable energy projects across the state's large portfolio of over 80 million square feet of facilities, in order to reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions in support of the state's energy and sustainability goals. The program has completed energy efficiency upgrades and retrofits at hundreds of sites across the state, achieving over $8 million in annual energy savings so far with a projected $42 million in annual savings, and plans to continue advancing performance through innovative technologies and partnerships.

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

CAKE: Sharing Slices of Confidential Data on Blockchain

Synopsis: Cooperative information systems typically involve various entities in a collaborative process within a distributed environment. Blockchain technology offers a mechanism for automating such processes, even when only partial trust exists among participants. The data stored on the blockchain is replicated across all nodes in the network, ensuring accessibility to all participants. While this aspect facilitates traceability, integrity, and persistence, it poses challenges for adopting public blockchains in enterprise settings due to confidentiality issues. In this paper, we present a software tool named Control Access via Key Encryption (CAKE), designed to ensure data confidentiality in scenarios involving public blockchains. After outlining its core components and functionalities, we showcase the application of CAKE in the context of a real-world cyber-security project within the logistics domain.
