Ball de bastons is a ritual weapon dance originating in Catalonia, Spain that spread throughout Europe. It features easy rhythms played on instruments like bagpipes and tabor pipes. Flamenco originated in Andalusia, southern Spain, combining cante (singing), toque (guitar playing), baile (dance) and palmas (handclapping). The jota is a Spanish music and dance genre known throughout the country but especially in Aragon, accompanied by castanets and often regional costumes. It was once danced at funerals in Valencia.
